I own a HP dv6 6170tx and an HCL ezebee(6 years old) cabinet.I wanted to find out (though it sounds a bit weird),if I could get the output of that cabinet on my Laptop screen.Actually I wish to install Ubuntu on the cabinet, but living in a hostel,it will be difficult to carry it from my native place to my hostel. Please help

you can not get any video output on a laptop screen from any source besides the laptop itself.i think it is fairly obvious.you can get the output of a laptop screen on another monitor through laptop video output port(vga, dvi, hdmi)not the other way round.

always trust the logic.if some one say to you he can double your money in 2 minutes would you believe him.laptop screen is directly connected to motherboard video output & this connection is inside the laptop's body.to even see this connection let alone modify it you would have to open the entire laptop.maybe it is possible to do it by disassembling the laptop, taking apart the screen,solder/rewire its input connections to a vga/dvi cable & then connecting it to your pc assuming of course that the person doing it has a Phd in electronics.

p.s. i think @arjunkiller misunderstood your post in a hurry.

yup, ArjunKiller misunderstood your post in a hurry. Laptops have VGA "out" not VGA "in"...

yea, you could get a VGA IN USB adaptor or a Express Card adaptor. (tough to find)

But still it's like booting into Windows, starting a program to see the input.

Not feasible.
