Dvi gpu on vga monitor
Hi !!
My friend has Dell in 1910n. As shown below it has vga connection.
He wanna buy a gpu which has only dvi and hdmi connector.
So what to do now ?
Any kind of converter ?
If yes then any problem with that??
Please help.

first of all why do he need to buy Gpu with only Dvi and Hdmi ports..
If he does not know then their are many Graphic cards available with all three ports(vga,Dvi and Hdmi)
If you want Gpu suggestion then pls mention Budget and make and model of PSU

I have DVI-I to VGA converter cable. It works fine.
Just for the note, the four pins on the left you are seeing are the reason why you can get VGA out of DVI-I. These four pins carry analog signals. You can't get VGA out of DVI-D because it lacks these four pins.

^^ don't worry too much .. most of the gfx card package comes with a DVI to VGA converter Dongle
look at the thingy on the bottom left corner - just use that

Ok i got Sapphire HD 6790 . . .for 9000/-
and i got dongle with it , works fine.

hmm so i spoiled 1000/-  ok next time i'll explore everywhere.
Also i'm gonna start online shopping.
Its Radeon hd6790 GDDR5. And i got it from Lucknow.

as told by topgear it vga to dvi converter is packaged with card...I also got with my HD5770 so no worries
