Restart on gaming
I was able to play games like Crysis 2, Burnout Paradise, Far Cry2 earlier.
But recently, my pc restarts when I am playing these games.
I cleaned up my cpu and rechecked everything but to no avail.
I also, as before, switch to classic theme, end all unneeded processes, disable my antivirus to ensure I have the maximum RAM while gaming.
But the problem still persists.
I think it could be related to power issues, but like i said, I have played these games befoer as well and I have not changed my hardware at all.
My config is below.
What do you think the issue could be?
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Restart on gaming
is the PSU from Extreme Power series? if yes, most likely it is failing. GTX260 is power hungry.

2) I do not have HWmonitor. I have always wanted to, but have never measured temps on my system. Could you please guide on how to do this?
3) it is the CM extreme series.
Any good alternatives??

There's a little possibility that the ram modules or gfx card somehow got a little bit misplaced - that's why I told to recheck the mounting of those.
For HW monitoring you can use HWInfo - the best app in it's class IMO

That's correct. It's not an SLI setup.
On the machine after long...
Will try the Memtest and HWMonitor and repost.
Thanks for all the help guys!

Yups..I think memtest (dos) will throw up errors. Make sure you run it on stock.

Re: Restart on gaming
Hi fellows,
Attached is my HWMonitor readings when idle. Please check and advise.
Sorry for sounding like a bozo, but please explain how to run Memtest.
I downloaded an ISO file, mounted it with Daemon Tools, the virtual drive has a read me file that says " Just boot from this CD and Memtest86+ will launch"
When I restart and select CD drive as the boot option, windows loads normally and nothing happens. No Memtest. The virtual CD is unmounted.

burn image file to a cd & boot from cd. you can't boot from a virtual drive (sounds like this is what you did).

you need to write the iso file on a cd - just use some cd writing apps like imgburn/Nero/Infrarecorder for this and then boot from the physical DVD drive - it's just like how you install windows

Well, I bought a new Corsair GS 600 PSU today hoping it would solve the problem.
To my despair, it hasn't. The pc still shuts down after 15-20 minutes.
Any pointers please what could be the issue? PSU is out of the question now that I have a new one.
Perhaps RAM is failing or somehting else.?? too high temperatures?
Please suggest solutions for either issue.
Tried to do MemTest but it couldn't complete due to abrupt shutdown.
I have the Cooler Master Elite 310 cabinet.
Thanks for your help guys!

Re: Restart on gaming
@ meetdenis -
1. make sure cpu/gpu is not overheating.
2. If possible try with another gpu.
3. Try bumping up the mem voltage - set it to 1.9v and see what happens. - do it first.

My idle temps are in the high 80's
Any suggestions on good solutions for thermals/cooling options?
I will be playing games and HD movies as well, so please suggest accordingly.
Thanks again for all the advice fellows!

Remove the heatsink from CPU , clean it , clean the old paste and apply new.

do what Tech&ME and pkkumarcool suggested - as for TiM look for CM Thermal Fusion 400 - price should be 400-500 bucks.
