Unhappy BSODs after bootscreen

PC config: CPU-AMD Athlon 64 X2, Motherboard - Asus M2N MX SE, RAM - Dynet DNHMAU2GC8FER-A7 2gb

PC2 - 6400u - 555,
HDD - Hitachi Deskstar HDS721680PLA380. Windows XP sp 2

I updated the bios from version 2 to 4. Everything was going fine until last week when i removed the CMOS

battery while cleaning the cabinet. From then BSODs occur right after boot screen and the system restarts

and the same thing repeats. Tried reinstalling XP but BSODs occur even during setup.

I suspect something gone wrong with BIOS settings.

check the sata mode in bios is set to ide
