Unhappy Laptop monitor..turning greyish and going down in brightness

Friends,

All of a sudden, my studio 15 laptop display is acting weird. The display turned greyish and the brightness comes low as if the power has been cut. It remains the same with no flickering and all. Later I switched off and started it again; things were back to normal for a while..but once after booting in and staying in desktop for a while it again goes to the dull greyish tone..

What is wrong and what would be the solution..?? [ I am into photography, design etc as well and I use (only) laptop for watching movies and want to get it back to normal ]

Looking forward...

Happy Dusserah and Navaratri to all!

Did you place anything heavy or any book etc on top of it? Looks like it might have been damaged by something.
