but now when I connect it to my win 7 pc it asks for formatting and on my laptop which is operating on ubuntu 10.10 does not shows it in the computer folder (I am not an advanced linux user).

I do not want to format the drive as it has loads of my data. Please guide me to get my data back.

My PC configuration is as follow:
AMD Sempron processor 3200+ 1.81 GHz
2.0 Gb RAM
32-bit windows 7 ultimate
160 Gb + 250 Gb internal hard drive
zotac 8700 graphics card

Thanks in advance, please help me through this tough situation...

Default Re: External hard drive problem

HLW ITS ME MAK AS PER MY OPINION THERE IS SOME PROBLEM ABOUT THE MBR(MASTER BOOT RECORD) IN THE USB HDD I SUGGEST U TO DOWNLOAD A PARTITION MANAGER AND SCAN FOR ISSUES AND ERRORS IN IT FOR THIS GO TO ANY SEARCH ENGINE(GOOGLE,ALTAVISTA ETC) AND SEARCH FOR EASEUS PARTITION MASTER (ANY VERSION BUT I PREFER 8 0R HIGHER VERSION) ONCE ITS INSTALLED PLUG IN UR USB HDD AND IT WILL DETECT AND THEN SCAN FOR ISSUES IT WILL OPTIMISE ALL UR ERRORS AND U WILL BE WORKING SMOOTHLY .....................HAVE A NICE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
