weird problem: computer automatically turns off

My frnd has a PC of following config. :
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz
GIGABYTE DG31xxx
1x 2GB + 1x 1GB DDR2 667MHz

While running, the PC automatically goes off (not shut down). To switch PC on UPS has to be switched off & then turned on.

Mobo was replaced recently

Pls tell wat cud be the problem. Is it the PSU ?

Do u mean the PC switches off while no task is performed? I think this question should be in Q/A forum..

what is the psu..check all the connectors inside cabinet and backpanel are firm!!

While running means? Is it the machine is on but no work is happening. Work : Playing song, video, word processing, virus scan etc.

If that is the case, check if the PC is not configured to go to sleep mode when kept idle for certain period.

If above is not the case, then check PSU as already suggested.
