the waiting game
Its been long time i have not played any PC game. Used to enjoy GTA a lot. My PC went kaput long back in 2007 and thus i got my 1st laptop DELL Inspiron 1520. And the only game i play now is Counter Strike on steam.
So from 2007-2011 i have missed many epic game titles (COD,BATMAN,GTA) and many others.
I have been thinking to build a gaming PC and started threads here however every-time something happened and i postponed my decision and decided to wait.
When C2D and quad-core CPU were selling like hot cakes , i was not interested in buying same as new i-Core series was round the corner. Then came the i3,i5 and i7 CPU. I made my mind to buy a quad-core CPU(i5 quad-core CPU) config and was disappointed that only dual core i5 will support on-board graphics and all other quad core CPU will require external graphics card.
Then came the SB CPU and was about to purchase i5 CPU and then this total recall was made because of faulty architecture. Again here we have P and H series thing.
As of now , i think its not the right time to built a gaming PC because of Z68 in near future with i7 ivy bridge , SSD caching etc.
So i have finally decided to get i-core Ivy CPU with z68 chip-set in June or Q2 of this year.
I have been reading every single "buying a PC" thread here and hence i am asking "Is this wait worth waiting for ?" Please post your comments.
Note : I need a on-board GPU because even if i am buying a GFX card , in-case anything goes wrong ,at-least i can start my PC.

^^
Name your budget and we can advise. Waiting is...dumb.
Also if you seriously want to game a GPU is necessary. We all do the same.

YEs, I second this. However for me on-board Graphics is mandatory. In-case anything goes wrong with GFX card , i can at-least start my PC.
Hope you got my point.
Speaking about budget , I am not sure as of now. Because revised boards are hard to get in mumbai market.
I want a super cool and ZERO Noise PC. Long back i had 2.4 GHZ prescott CPU and man...what a noise...my parents used to tell that it sounds like a water pump of our society and its true. Mind ****ing noise.
Later i came to know that intel prescott CPU gets heated a lot.
how much will it take to build a gaming PC considering that i wont over-clock and ready to spend more on basic stuff now and buying a graphics card 1-2 months later.
How much those i5 SB CPU heats ? what about the noise in this case ?

Re: the waiting game
So should i get a PC now or wait for Z68 considering the long wait i had , i think its better to buy latest Z68 than buying current hardware.

Re: the waiting game
What do you mean if something happens, you can atleast start the computer? Nothing will go wrong like you imagine. So instead of waiting and missing every technology, make up your mind and go in for the best and highest config that your budget will allow. Also, if you seriously want some decent performance from your computer, go in for a dedicated gfx card.
Just as a precaution, you can invest in a low cost GPU in case you are too unsure about your main gfx card failing.

Re: the waiting game
Z68 can support both onboard gfx and also overclocking. Where as H67 supports onboard gfx alone. P67 can only support overclocking.
Look for Asus or Gigabyte mobo as per your budget.

Buy now. No huuuge performance increase will come with the Z68 chipset.
1. Check. Fine.
2. That'll mean liquid-cooling. It'll burn quite a big hole in your pocket.
3. Possible.

By ZERO sound i mean that not much noise compared to my 2.4 ghz prescott CPU. it used to sound like our society water pump and i used to get headache after hr of gaming...even when idle , it sounded same.
Strong Build quality of cabinet with better cable management and proper air flow (120 mm+ fans with less noise) + good PSU (again with big fan and less noise)
I hope you got my point behind ZERO noise
Possible in 40K range ?
I dont need UPS , Speakers , Keyboard, Mouse.

Re: the waiting game
with a 40k budget, its pointless going for SB, I strongly recommend that you go for an AMD based rig, save up for an awesome card. A decent Phenom II quad and a HD 6950 would be awesome
btw, marathi kavita doing great, congrats
