Question Change HDD

Hi everybody out there....
I have a Sony Vaio laptop with 120 gb of HD space and that too is running out.I want to change the HDD to a larger size ,say a 500gb one.I want to copy all the files, settings including the current Os in it to the new drive.
Is it Possible. If so..Can anybody tell me the procedure please.
OS is Vista Home Premium.

If you have a desktop, you can connect both HDDs and clone.

Or you can get a cloning software and burn the image to a DVD and then restore the image onto the new HDD.

IMO the best option would be to fresh-install the OS and copy the rest of the data via a desktop or DVDs.

The problem is that the OS came pre installed in the laptop and is the OEM version.I do not want to lose the OS while transferring
Is there any fix?

^^ you have the key? download Windows Vista (or contact Sony customer care & ask if you can upgrade to Win7 for discounted price) & install it. use the given key.
