Unhappy Sudden BSOD-Nothing is showing up now

I have a 5+ year Old PC at home. Recently , it stopped working in the following manner.

I was just browsing on Firefox , there were only 3 tabs open , i had nothing running on background , no updates or cleanups , nothing , i am sure PC CPU usage was low .

I had not installed any new Hardware or Software or Drivers. I did absolutely nothing out of the ordinary normal work , just plain browsing , and i was on this SIte only , no FLASH / SL site or anything.

Suddenly , BSOD [ Blue Screen Of Death ] showed up for a second , and my PC 'apparantly' restarted, i.e. , my CPU Fan was still whirling around , PC Green light was oN , the yellow blinked a few times.

But now nothing showed up on screen. Not even the Intel Logo that comes at startup. Although the CPU FAN is working , the light of the DVD is blinking , the hard disk is also whirling , and a small green led light is also on the motherboard , nothing is showing up on screen . I cannot access anything , including BIOS [ as i said , not even the Intel logo is showing at startup..

I tried reconnecting the SATA Cables , adjusting the 20 pin , reinstated the RAM Modules , cleaned the CPU Fan , but still the same.

What might be the problem ?// I am thinking my Motherboard might be fried, but does the CPU fan run after that , i am not sure , so had to ask

Also , can i get a motherboard now for my current CPU ??with DDR2 RAM support ??

My PC Config:

Intel Pentium 4 531 3 GHz
Intel 915GAVL Motheboard
512 + 256 DDR400 RAM
1 TB Seagate
Lite-On DVD
XFX 8600GT 256MB DDR3
iBall Cabinet
400W SMPS [ Came with Cabinet ]
Samsung 17" CRT

All except 8600GT and 1 TB , bought on September 2005.

that error looks to be of ram. ok follow these steps:

1. remove ram & turn PC on. let it run for a few minutes. in meantime clean ur ram modules.
2. turn PC off. clean the ram slots & reinsert ram modules.
3. turn PC on & there should be display. if not, disconnect the graphics card & try the inbuilt graphics.

either your graphics card or your ram is the source of the problem here.

I tried removing the RAM and booting , nothing happened. I removed graphics card and attached monitor to Motherboard VGA , again nothing. The Fans of the CPU and graphics card are also stopping after a few minutes. I think the motherboard 's fried

I checked with only the 512 MB RAM [ i cleaned them ] and nothing changed. I didn;t check with only 256 RAM. But even if there is no RAM , shouldn;t the Motherboard Intel Sign atleast show ?

nope if there's no RAM the PC will give continuous beep sounds!!
so try only with 256MB RAM and check whether its booting up!

First of all sorry for taking such a long time to do that , maybe a part of me was just wishing the Old Mobo better be dead so that i can get a new one withh lots of DDR2 RAM. It was very bad of me to dump my old motherboard which i used a lot ... LOT , in the last 5 1/2 years.

It worked. PC is fine . The 512 MB RAM isn't.

Also, to show my appriciation to you and this forum , i won;t just write thank you in caps, i will try to help others here as well, and hopefully get to 1000 posts by the end of the next year

Thanks you.
