Default Computer hangs at "Checking NVRAM"


During bootup, my computer halts during BIOS checks displaying "Checking NVRAM". I have to restart it multiple times and then once in a while it boots up.

I could not get any update for the BIOS also.

Below are the specs:

if the HDD in use is PATA, check the cable. chances its loose & the NVRAM (non-volatile ram) referred to here is the HDD cache memory.

The system has 2 IDE HDD. I changed the cables but no difference in the problem.

i read some where that nvram or non volatile ram stores your bios setting and most probably it stores them on the cmos battery

you can try changing you cmos battery to see if it solves the problem

didnt knew batteries store any thing except charge !!!

where did u get that ??????????
