Portable DVDRom to play divx on TV

Guys i am in the process of buying a portable dvdrom for my latop, and was just wondering if there exists a dvdrom which can be doubled up as a dvd player to play dvd's, vcd's and divx files on TV. Any thoughts over that? Do let me know if there is any such thing.

Try HD Media players like Western digital(Western Dgital WD TV Live HD Media ),Iomega,ASUS.(Asus O!Play HD2).

Yea but those won't be able to connect to a laptop, right?

You can play the files from media player hard disk into Laptop

well joe.. i want a dvdrom which acts like a dvdrom.. like i can boot xp from the rom and all.. all m asking is tht, as i will be buying a dvdrom, it will b a gud idea to hav smthng which gets connectd to a tv too.
