Default Local SMPS Killed Motherboard, Please suggest Replacement

Yesterday evening i was working nicely on my PC when heavy rains with thunders started and the electricity went off. So i shut down my PC (It was working on UPS for 2-3 mins till i shut down). After an Hours when electricity came back i switched on PC but OMG it was not powering on. tried 2-3 times but no luck. So i opened the cabby. removed all connections and shorted the SMPS pins to check if it is working(BTW its a LOCAL SMPS). It was working (at least fan was moving). So I removed the board from cabby. connected SMPS and tried shorting front panel connectors. But no luck. Tried with different SMPS, Nothing Happening. So I concluded that motherboard is dead and I gave it for repair to my friend. (BTW he is working in Digi-Link a.k.a Gigabyte Verna-Goa as service engineer for motherboards). He said he will try repairing it.

So now i have started hunting a new motherboard and of course a good PSU and I have a very tight budget
My requirements for motherboard are: It should support both AM2 and AM3 processors because for now i will be using my existing AMD Sempron LE1150 2.0Ghz AM2 processor (at least till December and then will go for higher AM3 processor say Athlon II X4 635 or so).
Also i will be using my existing 3 GB DDR2 RAM. Also i want ATI onboard graphics
Purpose of this PC is Browsing, Downloading, Office apps, Video conversion and editing etc
I have narrowed on Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H as it meets all my requirements and it is also available on Theitwares.com Mumbai.
Also suggest a good PSU (I have shortlisted Gigabyte SuperB 460W)

My total budget for both is Rs 6500-7000

Please suggest any other brand/model if it meets my requirements.
I am from Goa and if your suggested brand/model is not available here then I am ready to buy online

Please give your suggestions
Thank You

^^ the board is a good one. but it supports only AM2+ & AM3. not AM2. so check if your processor is AM2+ or AM2. for PSU: FSP Saga II 350W or Gigabyte 400W. 460W if you wish.

the same problem was with mine mobo too 2 weeks back

the problem is with an IC in the motherboard
it needs to be changed
those guys for RMA will fix it up

but after repairing 4-5 times the problem still remain the same
so at last the person at the service center replaced it with their stock

^^ I didnt get you??
I want to buy GA-MA785GM-US2H because my old motherboard is dead. There are very few chances to get it repaired. I had got that old motherboard from Cyberage Students Scheme i.e in Goa, Govt. gives PC's for 11th Std. students at the price of only Rs 1000 [Config.- AMD sempron LE1150 2GHz, 512MB DDR2, 80GB SATA, 15" CRT, UPS etc.. ]. I got this one 2.5 years back and they give warrenty only for 1 year. Also that motherboard is from Acer (i think its manufactured by foxconn got through my online search) so no chance of giving it for RMA n it only supports AM2 which are now outdated

So planning to buy new board which supports AM2, AM2+ and AM3 and also DDR2 RAM so please suggest

That is a DDR3 based mobo, but OP already said that he is having DDR2 ram. So It cannot be used with the existing Rams

^^ Why are you seeing who have what on their website? Prime and itwares are retail stores and they don't keep spare boards for replacement- its only the service centres/companies who does. I assume your "friend" gave you a receipt for the "repairs", because if he didn't and if anything shows alterations (change in VRMS, capacitors, etc) and you have no receipts, you just flushed down a good 3 years of warranty. If there are signs of burn marks or physical damage, warranty is also voided.

Just take the board, put it in the box, carry your retail bill copy and go to:
D-link service centre:
MumbaiAddress: RMA Centre Ground Floor, Agarwal Estate, 168, CST Road, Technimount Compound, Kalina, Santacruz(E) Mumbai - 400 098

Tel:91-22-2654 2264/65/66

Just say the boards is not working- that's it. Don't say anything about your friend working in digilink and all that. Wherever you go, service centre guys will pick up any clues not to RMA to save their time and assuming you don't have a receipt- you just shot yourself in the foot. They will do the needful about 5-7 working days. Make efforts to buy a decent power supply in the meanwhile and make sure other components like rams are working properly by using stress testing softwares.

Its strange and sad to see people ready to spend 6k more to replace a board with warranty period left but they can't afford to do a basic research and buy a proper psu for their's system's health.

Hey Sorcerer you didn't got what i am saying..
I had a Acer OEM PC which i got under Cyberage scheme which had a motherboard (Model no. is MCP61SM-AM something like that) 2.5 years back
So the motherboard is dead because of power fluctuations and of course Local SMPS. So there are no much chances of repairing that board also it is outdated since it supports only AM2 processors.

So i wanna buy a new board and power supply and i have shortlisted Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H because i want to use my existing 4 GB DDR2 RAM and the Sempron LE1150 AM2 processor till i upgrade the processor may be in December with Athlon II X4 635 or so...

Also i have selected Gigabyte Superb 460W PSU
So please leave your suggestions and comment

Actually i think i put wrong title for thread Sorry for the confusions
This post shall solve all the confusions
Thanks
