Default Is my system slowing down???

Ive the following config.
AMD ATHLON II X4 620 2.60GHz
Biostar TA790GXB A2+
2GB Kingston 800MHz DDR2
500GB WD BLUE

The problem is whenever i try to install Win 7 from Win XP, after booting Win 7, it takes lots of time to get installed like around more than 40min. It takes more time b/n every step like setup is installing and it's next step etc... But in my friends Desktop, it gets installed within 20min.
His Config is
Intel E8400 3GHz
1GB DDR2 RAM
Some Intel Original Board
250 Seagate HDD
Plz solve my prob...

you sure your friend don't have 2 HDDs?
could be a problem with your HDD. Check file copy speeds in Win XP

i know. i installed Win7 on a friends lappy (Core2Duo with 3Gb ram & X4500). it completed in around 20min. though it was a upgrade.

in your case, does it takes long time for the screen to appear having to accept the license & agreement? if yes, than its perfectly ok. no problem with it.

looks to be. but what does this "extracting windows files" mean? during the installation process? if yes, last night i too went through it (updated windows as Win7 got little corrupted) and it took me 35-40min (with 4-5 restarts).

experienced this kind of prob ( on dec though ) and file extraction was failed at 98% because of bad disc - tried with another fresh copy ( disc ) of windows 7 and it installed correctly.
