AV in on TV Card Picture Quality

I have TechCom Internal PCI TV Tuner card. I watch Cable TV on it using RF In
I am planning to switch to DTH. Has anyone connected the AV out of Satellite DTH STB to the AV In of Internal TV card? How is the picture quality?

Hmm.. I using that setup.. In that case your RF in will only be used to control volume, on and off.. for switching channels u must do it in the dth..
And regarding pic quality, the card will give its best.. you wont find much diff btwn cable and dth until you go for a higher HD tv tuner card..

Today I tried connecting the DTH STB output AV & RCA the AV-In of TV card and Line In of sound card respectively and it worked well. The STB does not have RF out so I had to use AV. I could see the DTH TV on Computer using the TV Card. There is one small problem though..let me know if anyone has done the similar setup and faced the same..
As soon as STB boots, even if the TV Card Application is not running on PC, the sound card starts processing the audio and you hear the audio from speakers. This is not desired as I may close the TV card application and switch to winamp etc. In that case both audio will be mixed out. Is there any way to allow sound-out only when the TV card app is running?

This issue does not come up when using the coaxial RF in of typical Cable TV
