Problem with dual DIMM or may be board it self

hi friends one of my friend pc has got blue screen error with dual memory channel(i think so) and if engaged with one ram blue screen error comes rarely.

so downloaded some softwares relate to memory testing ie Memtest 86 and memtest.
and strange thing is with 2 rams engaged memtest 86 doest perform the test, pc gets restarted tried 3to 4 times no sucess. so removed one of it and tested with memtest86 and it passed with no errors and continued same with another one solely engaged and 1st time pc gets restarted when it about to test and tried again it passed with no errors.

so i get pissed of this and iam not able to conclude what has gone wrong.
i forgot regarding memtest software which we can test in windows itself,
but it test available ram only and perform this operation for 1st time it does show 2 errors and yesterday engaged same operation still waiting for results.

by the way config:

intel i5 750
intel dh55hc
ram 2x2gb
nvidia quadcore fx580

for mods: if same type problem posted by any one please give me link

if the board got 4 slots, run them in single ch mode. i.e.

running in slot 1 & 3 means dual ch. so keep 1 stick in slot 1 & move other to slot 2 or 4. check this way. is the system brand new?

Edit: for Intel systems, you must run ram in slot 1 & 3 to make system boot (1 closest to heatsink). this is dual channel. i not sure if running in different slots will allow you boot. try it. whereas in AMD system you can install ram anywhere possible.

it only runs under 2 or 4 channels and they are in blue colored and remaining twoare in black when put black ones system wont boot and it gives warning sounds.

Are both the modules of the same frequency?

What exact DIMMS you have. Also is that a rendering card you have in there. Are the drivers latest.

two 2gb ram DDR3 and yes its a rendering card we work on maya

and latest update: i run memtest v 4.1 latest one and this time test performed with 2 rams and test has passed so no doubts on ram as of now.

upon enquiry with other dudes who also use that pc the problem(blue screen error)occurs mainly when coping data to pen drive...strange... know and they conform me that when it freezes 99% pen drive or any other usb drive will be hooked in.

last thing ie today evening i updated its bios so lets see whats next and iam waiting to see u guys comes up for this problem

have said in 1st post itself that memtest 86 performed one stick at a time for both sticks with no errors
and thing previous used a memtest 86 v3.5 which cont performed operation with both ram lately come to know it has problems in dealing with 4gb
so tried with v4.1 and passed with no errors

and also another memtest sw which is on windows xp also did it with one stick at a time

Recently I happened to have a crisis with a certain system which pretty much gave me the same issue. Memtest would show that both my memory modules were perfectly normal however when I placed the same modules in a different system with the same configuration I ended up with the same trouble . Ended up returning the memory and got it replaced from the dealer no questions asked.

Other than that I wouldn't know how you would test it though . Another problem I noticed is OC'ed systems tend to end up with the same errors as well . Other than the above and the regular common problems mentioned above I wouldn't know how to test it further than just switching it out.

first with memtest86 v3.5 bootable cd which is however cont able to operate with dual sticks total 4gb ddr3 but passed tests under single stick setup.
so downloaded v4.1 which is usb bootable, passed with dual sticks.

Another problem I noticed is OC'ed systems tend to end up with the same errors as well .

What you have not mentioned is whether the same setup was OK before and has started giving problems recently, OR if the problem started when one RAM stick was added recently.

It seems you are stuck on the fact that it is a memory issue. I asked you the exact memory name..? I asked you, if the VGA card drivers are latest..?

Running MEMTEST is not the end of the world for DIMM issues. Also, do not rely on Windows based memory check tools cause the memory is all ready allocated for Windows, so some of it is not verified. Plus you are not telling us enough when questions are asked. For starters answer the question in detail, what Pimpom, has asked you. Give you whole system setup with model numbers, similar to my signature.

At times of BSOD, are you getting any memory dump creating. It should reside at "C:\Windows\Minidump". Which PSU you have also. Is the motherboard BIOS ever been flashed. Have you tried to reset the CMOS..?

@pimpom yes forget to mention there is no h/w change 2 sticks there from begining and problem is there from beginning itself but comes very rarely but it gets annoying with time and pc is 5-6 months old.
