Just bought an MSI GTX 470....

i bought a new PC yesterday(config in my sig)...there are 4 fans in my cabinet- 1 at the front & side each as intake fans & 1 at the rear & top as exhausts.is this arrangement ok?

the card looks like this- Anyway i configured the fan settings in afterburner.here is a screen-

i have configured it so that the fan speed & temps remain same.say for instance the temp is 40deg, the fan speed will be 40%.only from 85deg & above the fan speed is set to 100%.is this config ok?

are these results good? they seem too low.

please tell me if my results are ok..3d mark vantage & unigine results seem low.perhaps i should lower my settings. Anyway i've noticed that the card idles at 48- 54degs with 0-5% GPU load.after almost an hour of gaming in Split Second, the temps were around 78deg. i think the temps are normal.what do you guys think?the fan is quiet..no problems in the sound department.

i also have a corsair vx550. updated my first post with some tests i did. anyway..these are the results of benchmarking with Batman Arkham Asylum with normal PhysX- Settings-

with high PhysX & all other settings similar to above-

tell me what you think?

i bought the ripjaws Red one..the blue is of lower latency & so is costlier by more than 1k...

Nice purchase, can you please do the following.

1.Play an intensive game like Crysis, metro 2033, BFBC2 and report the max temperature of your card?
2.Whats your ambient temperature?(got ac?)
3.Run msi kombustor maxed out(do not check the power draw option as it can kill any card) and report the max temperature of the card as well the temp of your cpu,hdds.

I'm eying the GTX470 but load temps is keeping me away.

will do, but have a few questions-
for 1: should i report the temps as recorded by afterburner or should i use anything else?
2:i don't have an AC.....but its raining here in mumbai so the temps are not so high...probably around 27-30c
3:you can see the kombustor test settings & results in my 1st post...everything is set to max but i also have power draw on..i'll test with that turned off..

EDIT: sorry to inform you that i currently only have Batman: Arkham Asylum, Mafia 2, Assassins Creed 2, Call of Duty- Modern Warfare 2 & Kane & Lynch 2...which game do you want me to test with?

1. Report the temps from GPUZ, its the most accurate, load the GPU and take a screenshot after 10mins(after the temp had gotten stable and is not changing)
2.Ambient is ok.
3.You posted the kombustor benchmark results, I need the temperature readings, and keep power draw turned off as in can damage your GPU.
4.Well do this, stress using Modern warfare 2 and also using batman aa(with physx settings maxed out), also mafia 2 with maxed out physx.

Play game for say 10-15 mins, with GPUZ running in background, after finishing game check the result in GPUZ(click the temperature field in gpuz to show max temperature)

in both games settings were maxed with full Physx on...i did not record the frame rates but there was absolutely no lagging or stutters..the games ran really smooth..:-P

also, i checked afterburner & it too reported similar(give or take 1-2c) temps.

Nah, these will do just fine, now just waiting for the prices to decrease a bit, in the mean time I'll sell my 5850 for 12-13k probably and get some cash to buy a GTX470, wish evga was available here, in that case I'd have bought it first chance.

PS: one more thing, please mention the price and the warranty of your card. I assume you bought it from a local store right?
