New Motherboard @ 5k

Hi guys,

My motherboards PCIe went kaput and when i try to RMA it, it seems that repairing PCIe alone is not possible, as the problem is with PCB. And since its out-of-warranty, they dont provide me any replacement. My current motherboard is ASUS P5N-MX. Its an LGA775 socket Motherboard.

So i decided to use it in my D/L Rig and got to buy a new mobo. A VFM one.

My rig spec is :

E6600
4GB DDR2 @ 667MHz
HD4670
Zebby 450W PSU

I choose between these three motherboards.

Gigabyte GA-EP41-UD3L @ 4.6k

MSI Intel P45-C51 @ 4.6k

MSI P43-C51 @ 4.4k

These three looks pretty much same for me. I am confused in choosing one between these three. Please help me choose one. I'll get this by 1st week of September.

Also if you guys have any better suggestion, give me that too. I'll have a look at that and if its much more VFM than this, i'll buy it.

Another query is,

Is FSP Saga 500W @ 2.5k is enough to run this rig?

get a g41 based mobo. no need to spend a lot on ancient parts. get a corsair vx450w from the rest of the money which will give you the necessary futureproofing.

^^ a G31 will do fine. won't it? & with rest of money get yourself a Corsair unit or get the FSP 500W & save the rest for future update.

ya, i meant that only sam - g31 or 41...rest on corsair vx450w..how about that...more futureproof

actually G31 is dead. its really hard to find G31 nowadays. as Intel H series took over. so i feel G41 will be better (than banging your head into PC stores to find a historical G31 piece).

about the Corsair unit, its upto Raj. if he wants spend the extra cash.

Finding a G31 mobo here in Chennai is pretty easy. Still most of the vendors selling DG31PR mentioning that its the latest board.

Anyway among the three i've mentioned which one to go.

And for corsair, VX450 will cost around 3.4k.

Mobo @ 4.5k + PSU @ 3.5k = 8k

But my actual budget is 6k and i stretched it to 7k. So i dont think i'll get VX450 now.

OFF-TOPIC : That banner is very annoying and irritating.

If you don't plan to add any PCI cards for sound or anything, a G31/G41 motherboard will serve you well too.
G31 and G41 will be more or less same for you as you have a 4670- so you may get the G31 if it's significantly cheaper.

For the psu, i think the Corsair CX400 would make a nice buy for that setup.

that mobo cost 4.5k? better get your hand on a 2nd hand one. G31 should not cross 2.5k & even if you pick one from Local Museum won't cross 3k.

get a cheap board..there is no need to spend a lot on such ancient parts. now if board is 3k so you have 4k left for the psu. get CX400 if you wont to spend less.

Lemme tell which one to choose

GIGABYTE GA-G41M-ES2L @ 2.6k ---> 2xDIMM 8GB RAM
MSI G41 G41TM-E63 @ 3.4k ---> 4xDIMM 8GB RAM

Which one? Please help me

g31 is easily available for 1.9k

use opera.. easily blocks all adds

get the MSI G41TM-P33 its the best of the cheap alternatives
