I have already tried that but still the same prob exists. Is the modem damaged? Should i contact the service provider?

hehe too bad dude...i also received that message from BSNL to upgrade firmware of my modem...luckily I postponed that....now I will never do that.

But one thing's for sure that your modem is not fried if you have upgraded it using legitimate means...
Switch off everything...let them cool down and restart I am sure it will work out as BSNL will not do send such upgrades which could increase their headache!

Well ya ur ryt but who knows whethr 'tis legitimate or not..
I called bsnl customer care and they told me that bsnl dint provide any firmware upgrade. And ya if u take a close look at the firmware upgrader u'l c several english mistakes as found in fake programs. Now i think my modem is dead

ohhh no...very bad to hear that. so u mean to say that some days back, when we started our system, we got BSNL page by default (on its own)...that was due to some kind of malicious script...a hijack or something!!!
