Default Urgent help with a PC under 50-60k

1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)
A: High end gaming

2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: Yes

3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 50-60k

4. Planning to overclock?
A: No

5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Windows 7 Ultimate
6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: 500GB- 1 TB

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 7

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A:I have built one before, will be assembling it myself.

10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: In around 2-3 days tops
11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: Yes

12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: I don't need anything outside of the PC cabinet, everything else is already provided for
13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: New Delhi

Here is what I've come up with so far:

RAM: 2X2 GB KingsTon/ADATA 1333 MHz DDR3
Processor:Core i7 930 2.8GHz
Motherboard:ASUS P6X58D-E
Graphics Card: Sapphire HD5850 1GB GDDR5
Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar Black 500 GB
Could you also suggest a cabinet extra fans required if any and appropriate power. Do I require a sound card?

Thank you, I need to know within the next day or two.

Uhm...it's a 19 inch wide runs at 1440x900. I'll get a better one later.
Also I don't know whether that particular motherboard is available in Delhi, any idea>

How does the MSI X58 Pro compare with the ASUS P6X58D-E since the asus board even has USB 3.0 and 2 6gbps SATA ports.
I'd rather cut down on the graphics card right now since my parents aren't willing to spend over 16-17k on the graphics card.

but why?
you have got a total budget and you should get whatever fits in that perfectly.
i dont suggest you to fix prices for individual components.
talk to your parents once again..

Ok I asked and he says that the cost for Windows 7 Ultimate and the AntiVirus should be included in that budget. Could you also tell me about the motherboard?

Yeah I sat down with him and discussed the differences in the different versions and he said he'll settle for Windows 7 Professional which really isn't much of a cost difference. So uh..yeah

ARIGHT! I told him someone on the digit forums advised me the graphics card and he said fine. YOU ROCK!

So I'm picking up the earlier rig you suggested, now the only problem is whether I can pick up the ASUS P6X58D-E for the better features.
Any advice on that?

So my Budget went up drastically and here's what I've gone and bought now finally:

Processor: Intel Core i7 930

Motherboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme

Ram: 3x2GB Corsair 1600 Mhz Platinum Tri-Channel Kit

Power Supply: Corsair TX750W Power Supply

Cabinet: Cooler Master HAF 922

Hard disk: 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Black

So now I've got to get the Graphics Card.....Sapphire 5870 ran out of stock in India apparently since I talked to the main distributor for India.
*sniff* why do they run out of Sapphire ATI graphics cards so fast >.<
So I have to wait a full week for the Graphics Card.

congrats. nice purchase. BTW can you state the prices against each item?

also for graphics card, you maybe interested in 2X GTX460 in SLI. the 768Mb version. will cost you same as HD5870.

I bought everything from Nehru Place and here are the prices:

Processor:
Intel Core i7 930 @ 14.4k

Motherboard: Asus Rampage III Extreme @ 30k-ish in India but I got mine from Malaysia @21k

Ram: 3x2GB Corsair 1600 Mhz Platinum Tri-Channel Kit @10.5k

Power Supply: Corsair TX750W Power Supply @ 6.8k

Cabinet: Cooler Master HAF 922 @6.5k

Hard disk: 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Black @2.9k

Backup: 1KVA APC UPS with Software for shutting down @5.5k

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit @9.1k

There you go, the cabinet has provisions for liquid cooling tubes so I'll be OCing the moment this rig starts getting a wee bit old since the motherboard allows me to hook up my Laptop or Phone via bluetooth to overclock every bit of it.

Don't that particular SLI config run really hot?

pricing is nice. & you got that Extreme for just 21k. excellent.

no. as the cards already runs cool so SLI will raise temperature by just 5degree or so. also as Rampage III Extreme have support for 4 way SLI. you can install the cards a bit away. say 1st & 5th or 4th slot. & SLI them.

I got it from an official cooler master dealer called Pappi/Gurmeet(SMC International) and Crux Electronics

Yeah warranty problems will be there.

And I bought the full pack 64 bit man, not the 32 bit OEM. So yeah. It's a standard cost.

I haven't got pictures yet cause I haven't got the graphics card yet, the moment I get one, I'll put pics up

Windows 7 Professional Retail version price has gone up by 1000/- in the past one month.

Also with 750W Corsair PSU you will not be able to go above GTX460 in SLI. Crossfire with ATI 5800 series is not possible on this PSU. So finally you got very good rig but still limited by by its GPU power due to PSU. You should have opted for Corsair 850W (atleast) so that you had decent headroom for future GPUs (in SLI/Crossfire). This would have done justice to your CPU and MoBo.

Also a 750 watt is quite enough for 5870's in crossfire without too large an OC.

Corsair TX750 Watt Enough For HD 5870 Crossfire? - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

When I do overclock - when I get back from college, I'll buy a 1kW, I intend to take this to a stable 4.2 atleast.

^^ without OC, HD5850 X2. with OC, GTX460 X2. wasting so much money on going for 2XHD5870 doesn't seems good. at least performancerice point of view.

My comment was based on Corsair's website where they have recommended Min. 850W PSU for running 2 5800 cards in crossfire with system running on stock speed.
