Default branded intel desktop required....

guyz, my relative wants to buy a new BRANDED(preferably hcl, but others are also welcome...) rig.... INTEL ONLY

he wants the full config (PRINTER, UPS AND SPEAKERS, KYBD+MOUSE, MNTR N CPU....)

it should be a BRANDED INTEL CONFIG....

he is buying it for his 10 yr old son so no heavy stuff.... just casual gaming and movie watching....

he has also said me more than a 100 times that it should be able to run softwares releasing 5 yrs from nw....

please suggest some good branded desktops available satisfying above needs....

budget mx 25k.... + 2k stretchable....

25k? branded? that also Intel? should run software released 5yrs from now? i presume its OS your uncle talking about mainly. than a printer also. sorry to say rahul, but i'll have to laugh. even with AMD it won't be easy. Intel? you may do 1 thing, show uncle the pre configured rig in SMC. for 27k. AMD but well balanced & powerful. but will have to skip printer. with Intel, 3yrs is deadline. anyway all the best in quest for such a pc.

the budget is too low, really. even an assembled one with core2duo won't come. tell him he can trust AMD. Most people here are using AMD configs.
nothing personal here, these days if someone says he has a budget below 30k and wants intel, I simply tell him that I don't know anything about intel and skip the conversation. Only if he is ready to buy AMD do I help him

its really hard. give uncle 2 option: go assembled with AMD and he maybe able include printer. about running for 5yrs. thats like playing Crysis on a P4 + Intel 945. thats just not possible. you can never predict whats coming in next year. forget 5yrs. or show these posts to uncle, maybe he change decision. else you know buddy. running next release of Windows will be a hard task, forget gaming.

One will surely be able to run firefox on the PC five years from now, but movies would have moved to HD, little difficult to run.
Games, what???

usually on such budget even G4* will be a hard one. and rahul mentioned E7*** processor. settle for E5*** or E6*** dual cores. else total cost will shoot past 25k even with 1Gb ram i guess.

Intel dual core will be available at this budget. the above is Intel dual core processor, so will be fine. With the model of 22500 a printer or UPS will also fit in.

Now if a person is adamant on buying Intel, how can we expect a good configuration, a 2.7 Ghz processor & 1 GB RAM should be enough.

off topic:
Recently one of my friends asked for a configuration. His budget was very low & I suggested him an AMD config. He asked me whether it was a dual core processor. Now, with the hardware knowledge he possesses, I was surprised that he knew what dual core was. I said yes it's a dual core & suggested a quad core in case he wanted one. He said his brother was saying that dual core is outdated & hence he wanted to go for core2duo. I was like, whaa....!!!
I tried to explain that even core2duo was a dual core processor & Athlon II X2 would be a better choice, but no use. He would prefer Intel only.

Acer got a few models. seen in Lynx. and pricing is identical to Benq's price. but i'll suggest better get Benq. Dell if he want pay more. but 20" & Full HD? how

its good VFM but one have to remember all the hidden costs. also 1Gb will make even XP slow. forget Vista or 7. so total pricing on the bare pc may cross 28k (HCL Ezeebee AC1V0023, price: Rs.25490). add printer & total cost will be 30k+.

dont know about g3+ availability.just checked bio site. its a good mobo. but only diff. i see is the presence of 2 more dimms than g3

---------- Post added at 06:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:34 PM ----------

and 2 extra sata ports and change in audio codec. it will be somewhat expensive then g3. g3's around 3.7k. so it will be around 4k. but then g3 hd comes into picture which is far more better...

yup. G3 HD makes that board meaningless. cause you get 140W processor support, better codec & 128Mb GDDR3 memory free. so if G3+ available for 4k, for 200-300 bucks more you get so many features.

How can someone have a budget of 25k, want intel & also branded with a 22"full HD monitor. Tell him computers have become cheap, but no ones distributing them for free. Is he ready to increase his budget?
Sam's AMD config looks good, the price could be brought down further by skipping the PSU & going with bijli's inbuilt PSU.
Also, those dynamic contrast ratio figures are useless. I have come to believe that one can write anything in dynamic contrast ratio, there's no way to check what they claim. Still, 80k+ is a bit too much for such a small monitor. 50000:1 dynamic or 1000:1 real should be enough for general usage. Most monitors have these only. also, dell monitors have a response time of 5ms, other monitors may report gray-to-gray response time of 2ms, that's again useless. Among the four listed brands, I prefer Dell, however if budget is a concern, better go for BenQ, I personally don't like samsung at all.
Speaking of samsung, Samsung Spinpoint F3 500Gb (HD502HJ) for 1.6k really!!
That's real cheap if the price is correct.

no. the 22" is for a2mn2002's friend.

about HDD, i got a quote of 1.9k 6-7onths ago. so naturally its pricing is dead cheap by now.

OK, sorry didn't notice about the monitor.
And HDD prices haven't fallen that much. Samsung drives are priced similar to Seagate drives. 500 Gb will be 1.9k at least.

most people have never heard of AMD, I'm surprised by that fact. When I say AMD, they think I'm talking of some cheap local brand

As far as the config is concerned, if budget permits, X4 will be better as your relatives intend to use this PC for a long time.
