Question USB dvd Drive with WD live Tv

Hi All,

I wanted to buy WD live tv. since its not having inbuilt DVD player, can I use external usb DVD Drive ,and attach it to the WD live USB port..? will this setup allows me to play DVD and other video formats which are in DVD.?

I already have USB DVD Drive. so don't want to go for new DVD Player..

Yes, it can do it.

You need to mod it.

other alternative is to create DVD ISO and play it using WD Live. WD playes DVD ISOs with full DVD menus just like its playing the actual DVD through a DVD drive....

Well I am not sure about WD Live but with WD TV you can connect DVD drive BUT with a hacked firmware, though I have never tried this as I also have AC Ryan POHD with which I can connect a DVD drive officially (if I have to - again never felt the need to as I also have a Philips DVP5500 DVD player and a Bluray Player). BTW If you have more DVDs than rips, I'd say invest on a decent DVD player rather than this.
