Please suggest PSU, HDD & DVD writer
Hi Friends,
Please give suggestion regarding following -
1) A suitable PSU for my system,
2) A good DVD writer (please specify model number) &
3) 1 TB HDD.
MY System - Phenom II 550BE, Biostar Ta790GXB, 20 in LCD & 15 in CRT, 4GB DDR2 etc. I use it for 15-16 hrs daily, sometimes heavy downloading & sometime office work (MS Office, photoshop, acrobat, pagemaker etc.).
Budget - 8k, can be increased if required.
Thanks.

Re: Please suggest PSU, HDD & DVD writer
Hi,
Thanks for swift reply & suggestion.
Few friends suggested Corsair VX450, if graphic cards added to the system. Secondly, What is your thought regarding online purchase (delta, lynx etc).
Thanks again.

If you want some room for upgrade then VX450 is the way to go. A Solid PSU from Corsair and 80+ certified.
You can go ahead with online purchase, infact I bought my vx450 online

Good PSU for his current config. But don't you think the new Optiarc Writers from Sony are better.
For that price you can get a 2TB now Price of HDD have fallen.
1TB should be around 3.5K now

Re: Please suggest PSU, HDD & DVD writer
Stick to Corsair VX450, avoid Sony Optical Drive better go for SAMSUNG. WD Blue will be good enough.

Re: Please suggest PSU, HDD & DVD writer
1TB Seagate is available in Kolkata for 3.1k, seeme prices are higher in other regions.
There's nothing much to differentiate between optical drives, various people have good & bad experiences with various companies. I've had a good experience with my LG writer & a very bad one with lite-on.

Re: Please suggest PSU, HDD & DVD writer
Actually the optical drives made these days are not robust. You have to be lucky to get a drive which doesn't develop tray problems or other like not able to write to DVD(inspite of being a DVD Writer).

Re: Please suggest PSU, HDD & DVD writer
for the one who started this rig:
get FSP Saga 2 400W or Gigabyte 460W. both same unit. choose whichever is cheaper. or go Corsair way (CX400) if u prefer 5yrs warranty.
for HDD, get WD Green 32Mb cache version.
LG or Samsung 22X DVD writer. getting Sony or Asus no bad decision. but if something goes wrong, remember Rashi Peripherals will show u exit door.
