Default Core i3 myth or reality??? Please help

I'm going to buy a laptop.. So far i have zeroed into dell inspiron15R with core i3 and ATI mobility Raedon..
I had two things to ask---
1. Is it a myth that core i3 can't run windows xp.. I mean to install only windows xp.. I'm more comfortable with it.. I heard somewhere that core i3 doesn't support xp..
2. And do this ati graphics card work as those we use in desktops.. Or is this just mobile processing stuff??

Core i3 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems, so it will be able to run xp

ATI Cards in laptop are mobile editions and they are slower by 40% from their desktop counterparts.

I hope it clears your query.

I'm not sure about my second answer. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.

yes it is a myth

and you can get all info about your mobile graphics card here http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compari...rds.130.0.html see where it stands. click on it's link and it will go to the info page where you can find about from which desktop card family it was derived and how much it is underclocked.

and here you can know about its gaming benchmarks http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compute...s.13849.0.html
