i not think its a cause. i7 officially support 1066Mhz rams. so if 1333Mhz rams kits are used, it'll power down to 1066Mhz & will work. however the timing or PSU maybe the real cause. lets see what others says about it.

Try 10.4a drivers for the accelerator.

Re: New Hardware| Freezing Software [Please help]
If the board box says it should be 1066 MHz, it will run at that speed, doesn't matter if it is 1333 MHz. In my old PC I had plugged in 400 MHz RAM while it supported only 266 MHz (Those were old days). It might be heating issue. Download Speccy and check the system temperatures. Post the temperatures here. Hard disk should be around 50, proccy around 55 & gfx around 80 (degree Celsius of course). If it is much higher than this, you need extra fans.

Most new systems are incompatible with Windows XP.

Re: New Hardware| Freezing Software [Please help]
^^
His system is not 'new'. It is an LGA775 package, which is perfectly compatible with Win XP.
Do the following, and do them all -- in this order:
0. Eject the DIMMs/GPU. Blow hard on the dock slots, re-seat them.
1. Reset the BIOS of the motherboard.
2. Update GPU drivers to Radeon 10.4a.
3. Go to the Intel website, and get the latest chipset drivers for your system. Just over lay them over the current installation.
4. If still on WinXP download the latest Dx9 update it. Overlay. If Win7 do (4) and download Dx11. Overlay.
5. Fully patch your OS. Pull all updates from the net, irrespective of the OS.
6. Download RealTEM + Prime95. Run a sensor test, and post the screen shot here. Make sure, 2x worker threads are running for the test.
7. Post screen shots of CPU-Z. I want CPU, Mainboard, Memory, SPD tabs.
8. Post a screen shot of GPU-Z.
9. Download HD Tune PRO, and run "Error scan" on all your physical drives.
10. Download MEMTEST and run tests on each stick (alone) -- let it run till 100%. If you have 2 sticks, keep only one stick in place, run the test.
Also, I had asked you in the third post about your PSU, which you never told. If you want to run around in circles, you are most welcome. Also please update your signature, so the whole configuration is visible. It is quite a pain traversing, up and down to understand what I am posting about. Thanks.

Re: New Hardware| Freezing Software [Please help]
Temperatures are just fine. Try to update the drivers or reinstall Windows XP. If nothing is helping, ask the vendor before warranty expires.

it should be. moreover P series don't have any onboard graphics so a video card is necessary. so that card will most probably decide if its compatible or not. also P3* series was launched when XP was at high, i see no reason for it to be incompatible with XP

Re: New Hardware| Freezing Software [Please help]
^^
And mine is MSI P45 Platinum. I ran Win XP 32 BIT and 64 BIT on it, for like 3 months..?
See this page for the P35 Platinum overview. It is clearly mentioned " Because of the limitations of chipset, this MB does not support Win98/ME". And if you go to the drivers tab on the same page, you can find drivers for XP.
From where you got the information that it is not compatible with XP.

Re: New Hardware| Freezing Software [Please help]
Guys, thanks your your help, my pc is now error free. Formatting did the trick. Initially, i was suspecting virus problems and so got the hardware wala home and he suggested formatting but i tried scanning the hard drive first. Recycler had infiltrated my hard drive so i enabled SuperHidden files and performed a boot time scan using avast 5 which detected 25 unique viruses with a whole lot of other stuff. after that the PC felt much free but ultimately i formatted my drive once in for all. Thanks for your help. There is however another thing that i need help reguarding.. the hardware i mentioned in the first post were purchased last month and i have to pay Rs.32000 for it. I feel i am being charged a lot extra. Please tell me the exact price of the hardware for details here is the link Max Price of the following h/w
