Recovering data from laptop HDD - which Adaptor

I need help recovring data from a dead laptop's HDD.

Which adaptor is needed for this job, and where can i buy it from jalandhar, punjab

If the hdd is alright, you can try taking it out and replacing another laptop's hdd by it and transferring. Its quite a long process, not to mention u need another laptop having hdd of same make. I dont know if laptop hdds can be connected to desktops. Try this or wait for someone with more knowledge on this topic to reply.
