Default Motherboard-Intel or other

What is the advantage,if any of going with a 3rd party motherboard like Gigabyte, etc rather than going with Intel, if the computer is not going to be used for overclocking?

Intel mobo's sucks....Rather go with Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, Biostar etc(I prefer them in the same order)

And the main point I think is the servicing is far better in case of so called 3rd party

Yup you are right. Even I'm using Intel D945G mobo. But the days are gone. Intel mobo's keeps failing nowadays(I mean newer ones). Just keep your eyes open and see the threads in this forum. You can read reviews too.

And as I said the servicing(RMA and all others) that matters most. In that area intel sucks.

Well for i5 I would like to recommend to go with MSI P55 GD-65, It's a gr8 board(VFM).

Mehrotra.akash:
You question is far to generic -- to get a specific answer. You have to mention which chipset/CPU 'class' you are interested in. It is like saying is Maruti better or Hyundia. Both are leaders/average performers in their own sub classes / segments.

In your third post you have mentioned i5. As a general consensus Intel builds did not have OC capability. The BIOS was locked. To conduct OC, you need parameters like vCore, DRAM : FSB ratios, RAM timings changeable. Intel boards had these locked. Thus you could not OC on them. They have now started to release E (extreme) series boards which enable this, but most reviews stated the BIOS as 'difficult to work with'. Intel DP55KG Extreme Series P55 is one such example.

They are not bad boards. If you are doing basic stuff (read non-OC), they are just as fine as Asus/Gigabyte/MSI (alphabetical) boards. Intel service if not less, is at par with the rest of the companies.

Thx, the approx config i am looking for is

Kingston 2 GB 1300 MHz DDR3 Ram Price – 1950/- x2

Intel Core i5 750 Processor Price in India – 10,500/-

Cooler Master cabinet - 2500

Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W – 2,800/-
Corsair VX450W @ 3.8k

Intel DP55WB Rs5600

ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB in India – 8200

For this would you recommend sticking to Intel or going for a 3rd party. This PC will be used for occasional lightweight gaming, else normal stuff but will be using a 22-24 inch monitor.
(Will be making a few changes to the config and consulting this forum again, not final as yet)

Well......for the Mobo get MSI P55-GD65 @ 9.5k / Asus P7P55D / Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R @ 10-11k / Asus P7P55D-PRO @ 12k

For cabby get CM Elite 310 @ 1.5

+1 to Corsair VX450W as recommended by Sam. Don't even think of getting CM's Extreme Power Plus series PSU's.

Get Sapphire HD5770 1GB GDDR5 @ 10k

And for RAM get Transcend 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 2.5k

The MSI P55-GD65 seems to have a lot of features targeted towards overclocking, as I will not be using these features at all, is there a cheaper version without the OC options?

try this than: MSI P55-CD53. it got 3+1 phase. so not good for OC. Asus got 10+2 phase. however not sure. so is great for OC.
