suggest me to upgrade compaq presario sr1530il

i have compaq presario sr1530il
having
256 mb ddr ram 400 Mhz
intel 915gv motherboard with 4 ram slot
intel p4 processor 3.06 Ghz

i m thinking to upgrade ram to 2 gb

please suggest me whether to buy ddr ram or
change motherboard so that it can support ddr2 or ddr3 ram which is better & cheap than ddr1
& do i need to change processor to core2duo.

whats the use of the PC & your budget. also decide whether you going for small upgrade or full scale upgrade? this will help us give better recommendation.

well i m thinking for small upgrade
in case of full upgrade i will prefer to buy brand new dell inpiration.

but please if you can suggest me both ways i will be thankfull 2 u
