Angry External Hard disk failure pls help


i have seagate free agent GO external hard disk.
when i plugged into the usb port, it gets recognised..but the drive is not opening.

the error shows
"Drive is not accessible...the file o r directory is corrupted and unreadable."

i had around 298GB of files in the 320GB capacityHD.

1)what could be the problem
2)is the hard disk gone?
3)can i retrieve the files from the HD
4)if yes how can i do so.

pls help me people.

Ur HDD has crashed. Try recovering the data first. Use "Recuva" or "Recover My Files" for that.

After that, format it.

i can retrive only deletd files from HD..
can anyone tell me how to retrieve the files which is not deleted.
i used recuve suggested by rithwhik bhai.is there any other software to retrieve the files .
guys please hellp

You have to do first of all check the hard disk and also the partition could be damaged, in that case just use the Disk Director it is really helpful for you.If your hard disk died then this thing can help you, or smth like this. And the last way to restore data from died hard disk is freezing.
