Question Hard Disk


Recently I installed 320 GB Western Digital HDD after installaion it shows only 300 GB, why it is showing 300GB instead of 320GB

Its fine don't worry

Ur computer sees 1gb = 1024MB

HDD Manufacturers see - 1gb = 1000MB

Thats actually okay! Nothing to worry!
the rest space is occupied by the harddisk for storing system data and also its used for partitioning etc.

@Kool dude you are right, our Operating system measures 1GB as 1024 MB and our HDD Manufacturers measure it as 1000 MB, were this problem is not yet been resolved by this two parties and i guess will not be resolved in the future also...

^the thing is not only for HDD's but for many other products, like PSU.

Some PSU are branded as 400W, but they only provide 390W.

yeah dude its totally insane this hardware manufacturers are purely cheating us...
if we buy a 1TB HDD we just get almost 900GB of space in it
