Need help to buy a Digi-Cam in a budget of 10-12k

Hi All,

I am planning to buy a Digi Cam with a budget of 10-12k by this month end or next. Suggest me a good camera.

My Requirements:
1. Should be atleast having 10-12MP Camera and should use it for a longer time.
2. Should be slim one so that it fits into the pocket.
3. If possible it should support capturing photos in HD (would extend my budget to 15k max if it is worth and has HD)
4. I use it most of the times to capture my Scalemodel cars and occasionally when going out with friend's or family and some function's.
5. Would prefer 1st Nikon, 2nd Canon, 3rd Sony since i know and many suggest in the same way.

I lack knowledge in Camera's and their features, Since i was only using my Nokia N73 as a Camera. So i prefer you people to help me out.
Suggest me what features should i be looking at when buying.

1st of all, In the price range u mentioned, This should be the priority for brands :
Canon
Sony
Nikon (Nikon does make Superb DSLR's but in low budget its not that good.)

Have a look at Canon Ixus-100IS, it meets all your requirements i.e. :

Can Capture Photos (max resolution is 4000 x 3000 much higher than HD 1900 x 1080) and Videos (720P - 1280 x 720) in HD.
Good macro mode for Scale model cars, Daylight(outdoor) mode for going out with friends and Night mode for Functions etc.
Price is around 12k.

So fits the bill perfectly.

it is the best model in your price range and according to your requirements, and it should be available easily. Canon has a good reach in indian market, so no need to look anywhere else.
