Please tell me how and where I can store my system data so that I can enjoy full peace of mind without any fear of loss?
If u r talking about DCs, better take system state backups & store then in HDD and burn a copy in dvd. Do not use non ad aware backup software as restoring that backup will cause a USN Rollback (in plain simple word ur screwed)
If ur talking bout workgroup desktops, then backup data to another HDD & also burn a copy in a DVD.

I would go with PARIMM method, if you are very particular about your data, get two HDD and connect then using RAID 1.
But remember as its is based on Mirroring if you have 1 TB (2X500 GB) disk you can only use the setup to store 500 GB of data.
Quote:
RAID 1 mirrors the contents of the disks, making a form of 1:1 ratio realtime backup. The contents of each disk in the array are identical to that of every other disk in the array. A RAID 1 array requires a minimum of two drives. Although RAID 1's writing process copies the data identically to all drives, a RAID 1 mirror would not be suitable as a permanent backup solution for businesses, since RAID architecture by design allows for certain failures to take place (e.g. vandalism or accidental file deletion). However for home or other applications, where vandalism is very unlikely and accidental file deletion is put up with, RAID 1 offers a good backup solution.
Other methods are too time consuming or cumbersome or both
Hey friend you can also have another option to store your data offsite that means your data will get stored at another location on a remote server.
Data storage other than storage medias gives you more protection to your data from any kind of threat or virus. It is an automated method.
Thanks for providing number of ways to store my system data. I think now loss of data never hinders if i use these methods.
Though I appreciate your coming back and acknowledging the efforts of forums members, but I am curious, you started the thread on 10th Feb and cared to check back on 17th March!!!!
