New PC @62k
my friend has finally decided to do away with his old pc and get a new gaming rig.he views only preDVD rips and music from songs.pk so dont bother with a great monitor
Here's what i have in mind.plz suggest alternatives
Core i5 750 10k
Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 6.7k
XFX 5770 10k
Corsair 2GB DDR3 3.8k
WD 500GB green 2.3k
Corsair VX450 4k
Thermaltake Xaser VI MX 6.5k
Logitech G15 4.5k
Logitech MX518 1.8k
Altec Lansing MX5021e 6.5k
A 19/20inch monitor 7k
62k approx
would a amd proccy be good so that i can fit in another 2gb of ram?
should i go with a cheaper cabinet and then mod it?how much would the modding cost?
are the speakers good for my friend's multimedia interests?
what should be the monitor size/res such that my friend can play every 2010 game at high settings?

Re: New PC @63k
@ OP, the core i5 is superior to the Phenom II, so don't do away with that. For the RAM, do you need high quality RAM's? If you don't intend to OC RAM's then go for Kingston DDR3 1333MHz RAM. It's for 2.4k per 2GB. That way things will fit in your budget. The Glacialpower PSU has a puny 2 year warranty. Better get a Corsair 5year warranty one.
If you are going for AMD, unless you want to crossfire, get the Gigabyte GA_MA785GMT-US2H @ 5.5k. If you want to CF then the MSI 790GX-G65 @ 7k. That ASUS board is pretty inferior to the MSI one.
Sacrifice on the 4k keyboard and get a Logitech kb for 400 bucks and get Xbox 360 wired controller for gaming. its 1.2k.
At the end of the day, I stand for core i5 as it is superior to the AMD config and you can save money elsewhere. Will post in the night with a better config.

As far as I am concerned, I use a Razer Deathadder mouse which I had bought for 3k and for him Logitech Media keyboard for Rs.400 is more than enough unless he wants programmable keys.

Modding is up to you. Cheaper and good cabby suggested above.

For pre DVD rips MX5021 is a waste. If your friend is not an audiophile, the BXR1121 is a really good set. No point investing heavily in speakers for non-audiophiles.

5850 can handle everything you throw at it. Go for a better monitor like Dell S2209W @ 9k.

^ +1 to this config. For gaming Core i5 750 is better. Period.
Moreover, it's idle and load power consumption is also less. Core i5 750 is 90w TDP and Phenom II 965 is 125w TDP (in comp@ddict's words )

Re: New PC @63k
Get 22" @ Full HD/1080p.
HDMI cable is not required as BenQ G2220HD and Dell S2209w don't have HDMI, iirc.

I dont get it, this confg has a gaming mouse, gaming keyboard, a 650W PSU, , QUALITY DDR3 1600MHz RAM, a ATX BOARD with 1-+2Phase CPU power, full solid caps, and the heatsinks feel and work great too(a tech jargon wud get horny looking at the 785G EVO).
Even then u wud go COre i5, get entry level DDR3(which doesnt have a aluminium casing, the Corsair RAM DOES), a mATX board cut short of features to feed the lower board price????
And the case CM 690 is much superior to the CM590 and looks better IMHO too..(and performs better)
I strongly suggest that you should go for a CONFIG which is more complete and has quality components than get a high end CPU, lowly mobo and ram to compliment it
just me 2 cents, dont mean to offend ne1

Re: New PC @63k
^Don't mind him. He has this habit of recommending AMD/ATI to everyone, no matter what. I would heartily agree with him when the performance is superior or when AMD offers more value for money, but it is not so in this case.
As for the quality RAM, it really does not matter unless one is Overclocking the RAM's, which I believe is not the necessity here. If it were, I don't see in the first post. The mATX board for Core i5 has 4 RAM slots and can handle any graphic card thrown at it. Cut short of features, eh? For non-overclockers, no feature will really be missed. Besides, that ASUS board is sub par considering the MSI 790GX-G65 @ 7k, which is far superior.
650W PSU? It is pointless buying it for the OP's requirements. Has he said anywhere that he wants to use more than one GPU? Since he has not, the Seasonic S12II Bronze 500W can handle any single GPU based desktop system. No need to buy a 650 watter with a puny 2 year warranty and unsleeved cables. The VX550W is overpriced at 5.8k. Hence, the Seasonic PSU is the most VFM, even though it has a three year warranty as opposed to Corsair's five.
There is no need for a gaming keyboard as it is not worth buying and a gaming mouse has been recommended. By no means is the Gigabyte P55M-UD2 a lowly motherboard. There is no point in trolling against Intel/Nvidia. That will be good at Semiaccurate.com, but this is not that website, is it? If you were to make sensible statements furthering your arguments, I'd be glad to agree with you, but somehow you don't want to learn.
Imposing one's fanboyism all over the forum, especially to newbies or those who don't know much about computers is not the correct thing to do and I hope some people understand that. Let the performance and value for money speak and let it suit the needs of the question asker. End fanboyism and trollposting.
As for the query about the S2409W, asigh is a user and so are Cool G5 and Ethan_Hunt. I guess they could tell you about. All are amazed with it. No one in the forum uses G2420 AFAIK. I would buy Dell if I were you, but I do not know about BenQ, so please keep your mind open about that.
