Question Shopping in USA

Hi all,

A friend of mine is going to US (Minneapolis) for about 20 days. He plans to purchase electronics stuffs as its very cheap there.

Here are few things which are in list.

Dell Studio 14 / Inspiron 14z (Preferred Dell because US warranty can be transferred to India, No plans for Studio 15 as it has no DVD Drive)

Apple 80/120/160GB iPod Classic + FM Attachment with remote
Apple 3G 8GB/16GB iPhones
Camera - Nikon/Canon - Canon SX120IS (No to DSLRs)
HDMI/Toslink Cables
Wrist watches
4/8 GB MMC Cards

NO plans at all for Graphics card, Motherboards, CPUs, Fans, Heatsinks, LCD & Home theaters etc.

Pls answer few of the questions below...

Best place to pick up Laptops in USA (Walk in stores/Online order)
Best place to pick up iPods/iPhones (Refurbished/Used) - Which version of firmware to take so it can be jail broken.
How much amount of electronics will customs allow in India (I guess its 25000 INR, How do you show value of used item as there will be no bill)

Please do suggest other items which can be picked up from USA.. Give your tips.

Friend is bringing in so why pay duty.

If open item is there with you, there is no need to pay duty, If you order through website & they send you via courier then you pay duty.

and laptop, price directly makes it above 25K.
Instead of laptop get other electronic items to avoid any hassel.

instead of apple ipod check microsoft zune.

Laptop above 25k with BOX will have probs with customs.

If you dont bring cardbord box with you in baggage then no one will ask you. Claim it as personal laptop thats it.

Do share any good US shopping deal sites for electronics & iPhones.
