Ipod Touch or Cowon s9 or (suggest other)?

What would be a better PMP between the two?
I know the touch has more app support, but I can do without games/surfing. I have my cellphone for that purpose. What I want is the comparison of the music/video quality. I have come to learn that the s9 has a better overall sound quality and format support but the touch has a better video playback and ui compared to s9.
What I want to know is which has a better overall quality. I want both excellent sound quality as well as extreme video performance. Also kindly comment on the build quality,looks etc.
Also suggest if there is a better pmp other than the above two at the same price range.

go for ipod touch. there is no competition for this in India. If you can take chance, get Microsoft Zune from USA but you wont' get any warranty or service in India.

If you are an audio fanatic, then go for Cown S9. Till now it is the best souned PMP in the world. In CNET review, they said that No I Pod or Zune even come close to it.
With it Microsoft FX, SRS true Audio surround enhancement, it delivers the best sound in the lot. It also supports lossless formats like Flac.

But again if u want a total package of entertainment, then Ipod Touch is the way to go.
Right now 32 GB version costs around 18k. With its excellent multitouch interface, gaming and thousands of applications support, podcast and very good sound quality, it is a alrounder and actually unbeatable.

The zune looks pretty interesting. But only problem is it hasn't launched yet in India.
But what abt the price? I can get a 16GB S9 for the price of an 8GB Touch! What do you think? Is an ipod touch with half the storage capacity still worth it?

Zune is USA and canada only device.

if you can live without all those apps and the intuitive interface of ipod touch, you can go for Cowon S9. And yes, S9's audio quality is good but it doesn't have the legendary audio quality that earlier cowon players have.

when compared to latest ipod touch, the audio quality between S9 and touch is hardly noticeable.

Lot of memory, AV format support, drag-and-drop music copy : cowon S9
UI, apps, gaming, internet: ipod touch.

Though I am not a fan of Apple, this time, I do take ipod touch's side because it is one complete media player. You can do a lot of things with this.

i have recently purchased UltimateEars MetroFi220vi earbuds and imo i does not feel major significance between my ep630 and this earbuds on ipod touch .

will changing PMP will help ? i want best of its class Audio quality

okay. anyways, I don't think the problem is with the player. Have you tried playing lossless audio.

I have a ipod touch 2g 8gb and my friend had a cowan d2 ( not s9) and there wasnt much difference in sound quality using my headphones(philips she9550) , only that the d2 had lots of option of tweaking and equilizers . 2 months back i had a chance to listen to my friends s9 and it was not even close to d2 in sound quality on stalk headphones . Build quality of my touch is way better , screen size of s9 is small and was costlier then my 8gb touch . Only advantage of s9 was that it had FM that too didnt work indoors .
My friend had purchased s9 since he said that he hated itunes but After seeing my touch my friend decided to sell his s9 . He had also started a thread to sell his s9 on bazaar section or on different forum , i cant remember very well .

I changed from ep630 to Philips she9550 and noticed improvement in sound quality , not by much but if you listen to songs with high bit rate then you would notice considrable difference .

Very happy with my 32Gig iPod touch 2G + Philips SHE-9501 for an year and half
Don't go for 2G iPod touch,if possible get a 3G iPod touch,since RAM and processor are doubled and also a new mobile GPU,it takes the hardware of the iPhone 3GS, A8 Cortex processor 833MHz underclocked to 600MHz with PowerVR SGX GPU and 256MB of RAM. All these equates to similar performance as the new iPhone 3GS and that means it's blazingly fast.
And for those who aren't happy with itunes for syncing music,you have got several options like MediaMonkey,Songbird,Winamp etc ,but you have to resort to itunes for back up and app syncing.
I personally prefer Songbird for its versatile addons and its itunes+Firefox style interface and it syncs library with itunes in both ways,just in case,very handy.

Considering sound quality, most people won't even notice the difference between the s9 and itouch, even fewer actually buy expensive headphones.

I feel the itouch is excellent, touch-screen at its best and great app support.

The S9 has a wider range of features, multiple format support for audio and video, no itunes, fm radio, bluetooth, etc, etc.

I suppose this would only bring it down to personal choice. I would pick the itouch any day.

Recently purchased iPT 8GB in Dubai airport. Its basically a iPhone without phone. Its touch is amazing and the sound quality is okish. I wouldnt say great, cos I love the bass provided by Sony walkman phones. I use my Sony BT Handsfree for hassle free music hearing and it gives me a little bit of bass.

JB'ed my iPT recently and loaded tons of games and apps. But occasionally remove all of them to load the movies to be watched during my travel (flight).

Games are too good and plays without any stalks. Currently playing Terminator, NOVA and NFS series (Carbon and shift). Too good. Addicted to Labyrinth 2 and Bejeweled 2.

I get one of the best quality in vdo songs and movies and that too with the huge screen. I just love it, but now thinking of passing it on to my fiance and gettin a iPhone 3GS during my next visit to Malaysia.

Get the iPT 16 or 32GB with ur eyes closed.
