Well.....@25k I think u'll get more better rig if u opt for AMD. Look 2 ASUS/Gigabyte for mobo. As for RAM's go with corsair. I suggest LG as for optical drive. And look at logitech for gaming mouse+keyboard.

Well......wait for Krow....I think he can give u entire and better config.

mouse and keyboard - decent gaming ( preferably laser)
AMD Athlon II X4 620 @ 5.5k OR AMD Phenom II X2 550 @ 5k (Beats most old and outdated C2D/C2Q proccys)
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-US2H @ 5.5k OR MSI 785GM-E51 @ 4.6k
2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz Kingston @ 5k
1TB Seagate 7200.12/WD Green @ 4k
Corsair VX450W @ 4k or CM REAL Power Pro 460W @ 3.5k (CM Extreme sucks, NEVER buy it)
HD4850 1GB @ 6.7k or GTS250 512MB @ 7.1k (Sapphire for ATI, Palit for Nvidia, anyway, brands don't matter much here, just make sure you don't buy anything that is serviced by Rashi Peripherals, like XFX)
For other suggestions, look below.

AMD Athlon II X4 620 - 5.2k
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H - 5.9k
2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz Kingston - 5k
500GB Seagate 7200.12 -2.3k
Corsair VX450W - 4k or CM REAL Power Pro 460W @ 3.5k
ATI HD4670 512mb - 4k

Total - 25.5k

If you have more money get ATI 4870 512mb - 8.6k

Stay away from MSI mobos.
They have crappy RMA service.
If any of ur MSI mobos get discontinued and u want RMA for it , instead of giving u a equivalent mobo or higher mobo they give low value credit note.

IMO, this is not a good time to buy a graphic card. Truth to be told those 4GB 1333mhz cl9 latency rams for 5k are a waste of money but unfortunately the price decline for ddr3 is stifled and will be the same for some months now all thanks to the distributors.

@OP:
You original post does not make sense to me at all. You said you wanted to upgrade 'just the CPU', and it seems, you are going for everything.

If you haven't bought any yet , then i can make an i5 rig @ 31k
Intel Core i5 750 - 9.8k
Intel DP55WB - 5.5k
Transcend Ram 2gb 1333mhz - 2.3k
Gigabyte 460w - 2.2k
Logitech Kb+mouse combo - .7k
Samsung/LG Dvd Writer - 1k
ATI 4850 - 6.7k
Seagate 500GB 7200.12 series - 2.3k
Zebronics Bijli - 1.1k

Total - 31.5k

Intel Core i5 750 beats Phenom II 965 and consumes less power than Phenom II 965

Don't worry ab8 Intel mobo.

Since you won't overclock , Intel DP55WB will be fine for you bro

Its 6k more from your budget but its a good Intel alternative

Can't help it . He himself asked for it.

Nothing can be lowered except gfx

This is the minimum i5 rig with decent gfx

No no why will I mind ?

I already gave him the AMD alternative @ 25.5k

He asked for Intel alternative(core i5) and I gave it @ 31.5k ( can't be any lesser unless u sacrifice on gfx )

Ya u r rite....!! Many people r biased towards Intel and they think Intel is better. And don't try to understand that the diff lies in their internal architechture which doesn't at all matter to us.

Well coz 1TB HDD's r crashing like hell.........many members here hav reported of crashing their 1TB HDD's. So for now its far better to go with two 500GB HDD. Coz if the 1TB fails all ur data gone in just a moment....!!

Yup.......Its mainly the problem with only seagate. For other major brands like WD, I'ven't heard any complain. Well according to me WD is far better than seagate(at least at present). So I wud suggest u to go for two 500GB HDD's from WD. Be on safe side.

ok...but will dat the same price...500+500 = 1000TB price...
moreover using two 500GB's will consume more power as compared to single 1TB

@asingh: I am careful always...but u r careless...check ur CP...

Well.....I don't think so.......WD 500GB HDD's are prices at 2.4k now.

Ya.....if u calculate Cost/GB wise then 1TB is of-course better choise. But considering all other factors 500GB is much better choise at least at present.
