At your budget it is hard to have a SLI or Crossfire solution. It may be needing an extremely good pSU also. So stick to a very good single GPU based sollution

1. Athlon II 620 @ 5k
2. Asus M4A785TD-V EVO @ 6.7k (Crossfire supported, 2 X8 card slot)
3. 2X2 GB Kingston 1333 MHz DDR3 @4.8k
4. 500 GB Seagate SATA @ 2.4k
5. GTX 260 Core216 @ 10k or Sapphire HD4890 1GB GDDR5 @ 12.5k (wait few days if u can for DX 11 cards to be mainstream)
6.Cooler Master RP-600-PCAR Extree 600W @ 3.4k
7. Zebronics Bijli @ 1.5k
Dont buy the Gfx card now. Wait for few days for the price drop of DirectX 11 cards.

Thanks for the info. i wrongly wrote Athlon II 620 as Athlon II 640:
Is Radeon 5770 good.

yup radeon 5770 is good, go for it. if u have budget constraints then be a little patient & let the price decrease a bit.

Change motherboard to Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H @ 5.5k. No need for the ASUS board. It runs crossfire in x4 mode, practically useless. Change PSU to CM Real Power Pro 460W @ 3.5k. CM Extreme series is crap.

Smile Re: A gaming Budget rig

Ok Guys after of lot of thinking i came to this solution:

Proc : Athlon II 620 @ 5k
Mobo : Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H @ 5.5k
RAM : 2X2 GB Kingston 1333 MHz DDR3 @4.8k
PSU : Cooler Master RP-600-PCAR Extree 600W @ 3.4k
Case : Cooler Master 335.
GFX Card: Would buy later. Waiting for dx 11 to go cheap.\
OS : W7 professional.
HDD : Using my old 120 GB or 500 GB Seagate SATA @ 2.4k.

Please give me more suggestion till tommorow 30/11/2009 as I am going to buy these parts from nehru place.

Good choice except PSU. Get Cooler Master Real Power Pro 460W @ 3.5k. CM Extreme is crap as I said before. For 100 bucks more you get a MUCH better PSU. Are you buying original OS?

NO. I can't understand why CM Real Power Pro is a problem. Get it, you won't regret buying a good power supply for your computer. Good power supply does not mean the one with highest wattage. It means one with best efficiency. CM Real Power Pro 460W has an efficiency of 80% or greater at all times. I doubt if POV black diamond has that. Yes, the CM Real Power Pro can handle all graphics cards you mentioned. If you are buying HD 5850, then best go for Corsair VX450W @ 4k.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 550 - 5.2k / Athlon II X4 620 - 5.3k
Mobo : MSI 785GM-E51 -4.6k
RAM: Transcend 2GB DDR3 1333MHz - 5.2k
GPU: ATI 4870 512mb - 8.6k / ATI 4890 512mb - 12k
Cabinet: CM Elite 310 - 1.5k
SMPS: Corsair VX 550 - 5.5k ( For future ATI 5850, ATI 5870, ATI 5970 , GT 300 )
Total - 30.6k / 34k

P.S. - Note Phenom II 550 will be a better buy because it has L3 cache which will give a performance boost in fps when compared to Athlon II x4 620

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=3638&p=8

Phenom II x2 550 beats Athlon II x4 620 in every game for more or less 20fps . Its due to L3 cache.

Moreover Phenom II x2 550 can be unlocked to Phenom II x4 955 with correct proccy batch nos

Go with Corsair VX 550 . It gives 5 years warranty and for 1k more it will assure futureproof psu for future ATI 5850, ATI 5870, ATI 5970 , GT 300

But tell me which resolution do you play at ?

It'll be easier to specify the card if you specified the gaming resolution

Anubis u r right about that, but that is not because of the L3 cache. This is because today's most of the games are not optimized for multicore processors. They rely more on core clock speed rather than number of core counts.
But things are changing very rapidly and within a short time games are going to be optimized for multicores. So a quad core processor is always a safe and future proof buy.
For performance gain, overclock 620 a few hundred MHz and see the difference.

In fact AnandTech has performed this kind of test by underclocking Phenom II 965 to 2.66 GHz and compared its performance against Athlon II 620. They found out that the difference is not really that much. Obviously L3 cache has a definite advantage, still...........

And computer is not just for gaming. In most of the application u get benifit from a quad core, say from audio-vidoe editing encoding, adobe softwares.

Otherwise your suggestion is good for a budget rig

From where did u get that price? it is around 2.6k.

I already stated that

Phenom II x2 550 can be unlocked to Phenom II x4 955 with correct proccy batch nos

So if you can't find the proccy batch nos pm me. I'll give it to you.

PII x2 550 unlocked to PII x4 955 is a better deal.

I think you saw only part about L# cache not about Unlocking to Phenom II x4 955
