Default Display Not Coming Always

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my C2D system. The display refuses to come at times. Noe its frequency has increased. Also at times the display stops by displaying the BIOS screen. But even when i try to enter it, it does not enter. Its hung & i cant even power it down by the cabinet switch.
Also once i switched by PC for about 15mins in Ubuntu & then opened the cabinet to find that my graphic card was really hot compared to the motherboard heat sink. I use an XFX Geforce 8500GT 512MB graphic card. So i removed & tried with the VGA slot on the motherboard. But still there are problems with the display. I even tried operating my PC on just 1GB Ram stick only. Still no use.
My motherboard is an Intel G31PR based on the G31 chipset.
Somebody please help me....

Seems like a PSU problem. Which one you have. Though your system should not need that much power, the 8500GT is not power hungry.

^^ Try another PSU.

Also I had the XFX 8500GT. It comes with a heat sink and no fan. Even mine used to get damn hot, then I mounted an OEM HSF. See if you can do that.

I got my XFX 8500GT graphic card replaced with an Asus 9400GT card. Now there seems to be no problems.. []
