why ddr2 ram price is increasing .....??

hi friends,,,do u know why ddr2 ram's price inc...few days back it was about 11-1200 for 2 gb now almost doubled......why so??

My take on it is they want people to start looking at DDR3 as the new Basic standard and soon phase out DDR2. If u look at 2gb DDR3 price it is almost same as 2gb DDR2. Now if you are buying a new pc then you will go for DDR3 since both of them are priced similar and DDR3 mobo prices are also falling down. May be they want to popularize DDR3, this is what I feel.

I was referring to the sudden increase in DDR2 prices.
Btw hdd prices fell. Monitor prices fell. Not to mention graphic card prices which fell drastically. But why did DDR2 price doubled when DDR3 price remained same. Hence my logic. It's just my view yaar.

demand for ddr3 is increasing.. its the new standard..

demand as well as supply for ddr2 has decreased so price has increased

DDR3 is the talk of the town now and to boost it, DDR2 price had to be increased.

both intel and amd have jumped on to DDR3 bandwagon and manufacturers will slowly stop making mobos that support DDR2.

1GB DDR1 costs Rs.1800
1GB DDR2 costs Rs.1150

What are you trying to get at....not really sure. If you could put your questions more straight forward and precisely it would make the job easier.

1. How would we know what 2nd hand prices you are being offered.
2. We do not know your expenditure budget.
3. We do not even know the mission of this thread. It started as RAM price question, and now you want advice regarding purchase.
4. What is your current configuration. I.E. update your signature.
5. IF you purchase, what you will do with the system.

All these parameters have to be evaluated. Help us to help you.
