Well it is a motherboard for a LGA775 socket.

What is your budget. Lot of stuff out there.

Instead of getting ASUS, get Gigabyte G31M-ES2L for 2.4k. From what I hear, ASUS has dicey after sales service (Rashi anyone?). Besides, Gigabyte is a great brand as well. Yes, it supports DDR2 800 MHz RAM and yes you can use any PCI-E Graphic card in it. Get some cheap graphic card like the 8400GS or so. Not sure which one would be for 1.5k though.

definitely mate you can use a graphics card as the board has a pci xpress x16 slot.
yes the board supports ddr2 800mhz ram.
if you dont want to game then up your budget for 1k and get a radeon 4350 or 4550 @2.5k along with the asus board.

as for gfx card for urself, go4 wat krow suggested. Sparkle 8400GS 256Mb cost 1.5k. using a costly card will only bottleneck ur proccy.

& as for ur frnd, u sure his budget it Rs.6500k?

mate, 6500k = Rs.65,00,000. bt if budget is 6.5k, gigabyte g31 = 2.4k, 1gb ddr2 costs 1500-1800 depending upon ur location, 320gb costs 2200 or so. 8400gs costs 1500. now u talk 2 ur frnd abt it.

Dear "vickybat" & "Krow"

Yesterday i went 2 SP rd.
These r the rates i found @ Ankith

Gigabyte G31M-ES2L - 2275/-
320 gb. WD 16mb. - 1900/-
Cabinet with SMPS - 1200/- (Mercury)
Ram 1 gb - 1200/- (800/ Transcend)
Sparkle 8400GS 256Mb - 1900/-

& @Metro
Gigabyte G31M-ES2L - 2200/-
320 gb. WD 16mb. - 1800/-
Cabinet with SMPS - 1000/- (Techom)
Ram 1 gb - 1150/- (800/ Transcend)
Sparkle 8400GS 256Mb - 1700/-

I have talked 2 my frnd. he said he will not go for Gfx. card right now, may b in 2-3 months, so my frnd. is going ahead with above config. without Gfx. card.
Any suggestions for the Cabinet? (Brand)

Thanks in advance

Steel one. IMHO, the transparent side panel is more or less useless, unless you want to showoff some way or the other.
