Default PC Upgrade Between 20-25Ks

Hi,
I would like your advice for a PC upgrade. My budget is 20,000 to 25,000Rs and
i wanna upgarde my Motherboard,Processor and RAM....

I live in N-Delhi and despite contacting a number of computer-shop regarding i5&i7
pricing and availability,i have only got blank expressions from them........coz they
haven't heard of it.

So,plz tell me Intel processors+motherboard+RAM for the mentioned budget....also
if not i5/i7 then which is the next best processor from Intel.....

First of all what is your current configuration ?
----------------------------------------------------
20-25k is a bit low for core i7 system, and somewhat even for i5.

i5 retails at 11k (just the processor alone)
i7 920 retails at 16k

Appropriate motherboard for either i5 or i7 from 15k - 22k. (ASYS, Gigabyte EVGA)
(cheaper ones havent arrived yet)

DDR3 RAM is a bit expensive right now so minimum 2GB = 2.5k

A better power supply for the new system = 4.2k (at least a 450W SMPS)
( depends what kind of power supply [SMPS] you have right now)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Alternatively AMD config

Processor, take your pick

AMD Athlon II X4 620 (2.6Ghz) Quadcore = 5,400/-
AMD Phenom II X2 550BE = 5.3k
AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE = 7.3k
AMD Phenom II X4 955 AM3 = 12k

Motherboard
ASUS
M4A785TD-V EVO (785G) = 7.5k
Crosshair-III-F = 14.3k

Gigabyte
GA-MA785GM-US2H (790G) = 4.5k
GA-MA790X-UD4P = 10k

Throw in some DDR3 RAM which should be in a kit (2x2GB, 3x2GB kits) from Corsair, OCZ, Kingston, G.Skill etc = 7k

spend like this

5-7k for proccy
7-10k for motherboard
3-7k for RAM
= 24k.. at most.

4k at least for powersupply (optional, if you already have a certified 450W or greater PSU )
= 28k

I'd say buy a AM3 socket motherboard with high end config and features (with either the 790 or 785 Chipset),

Go for the Tri Core Phenom or baseline AMD Athlon X4 620 or Phenom X2 550BE (which could be unlocked to four cores) and wait for a better processor to come from AMD. At least AMD based motherboards remain upgradable for a longer time than intel based ones

Core i5 may be better than all the processors above, but also you'll be stuck with it if intel plans to change sockets again ..

At a budget of 20 to 25k, going for an Intel Sollution is not a good idea. In high end segment Intel
is unbeatable with their Core i7, but low and middle end section AMD is the king. I think an AMD configuration will serve u better.

Processor: AMD Athlon X4 620 2.6 GHz @ 5.6k
M/B : Biostar TA785GE 128M @ 4.3k
RAM : 2 X Kingston 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM @ 1x1=2k
GFX CARD: Sapphire HD4850 1GB GDDR3 @ 7.4k
PSU : Zebronics 600W Pro @ 3.7k or Cooler Master 500W ExP @ 2.9k

So the total is around 23k. It will give u enough horse power to run most demanding applications and games of today as well as lot of options for future upgrades. If u owns a GFX card already, then invest the extra money to buy a high end AM3 processor like Phenom X4 810 BE 2.6GHz 6MB AM3 @ Rs8325. There is a high chance that GFX card price will be lowered very soon due to the release of DX11 gfx card from ATI.
Keep one thing in mind:- Don't buy any M/B based on anything other than AMD 790 or 785 chipset.
Don't buy AM2+ phenom 2 processors like Phenom II 940 or 920 since they don't support AM3 M/b and hence not suitable for future upgrades.

Replace the PSU from the above config to Tagan TG-500-U37 or Corsair CX400W @ 3.2k, but my recommendation is CM Real Power Pro 460W @ 3.5k. Xeno's config is much more future proof and hence you should get it.
