Exclamation Upgrading: Please help me to choose the correct components--

Look guys. I upgraded my pc about 3 yrs ago. U can find my config in my signature.

My pc has become a bit slow now, I cant play a single new game release.

I have a budget of Rs 10000

I was considering to upgrade the following:
Processor:AMD athlon x2 245 Rs 3500
Motherboard: Biostar 790GX RS 4500
RAM: 2GB DDR2 Rs 1200
Cabinet: Zebronics Bijli Rs 1500.

But as a second option, instead of upgrading the processor, board and ram, I thought of buying a Ati 4670 graphics card(Rs 4200) and the cabinet(zebronics bijli with stock smps), {Coz da cheaper da better}

So which will give me more gaming performance? Or is there anything else
I should upgrade? Please help me guys......I cant even play nfs undercdover!!

^Good choice of config!

Please check the price of 785G based mobo from Gigabyte. It should give you even better gfx I suppose. I would recommend that you increase your budget to about 15k and get a decent PSU with the package like Antec EA 650 or Seasonic 460W or Corsair VX450W.

Thnx

Which gives more grafix performance: My old athlon 3000 with ati 4670 discrete graphics card or the new AMd athlon II X2 245 with 790gx onboard grafix?

And as I am a student, dad wont let me up da budget much....max will be 12000.....but as i said....the lower the better...

And can stock psu of Zebronics bijli handle Ati 4670?

Thnx

I tried to run HD4770 on my old Athlon 3000+ (venice core) but the processor proved to be a too much of a bottleneck. My suggestion would be wait till 785G is fully available and then upgrade to

Phenom II or Athlon II X2
758G
DDR3
9600GT

^It might just be able to handle it but it will get overloaded for sure after a period of time and will harm other components. For now, if you want to game only:

A). Open your cabinet and clean all the dust in it, preferably use a vaccuum cleaner or a simple dust blower with a dry cloth should do.
B). Get a decent GFX card like the 4670 512MB GDDR3 or 9600GT 512MB GDDR3, and game happily. I dunno if that PSU will handle it still
C). I would recommend you wait for some time before you upgrade ur CPU and mobo.

if I am right, HD4670 and 9600GT take same amount of power. look for one that comes with GDDR3 as it will take little less power than one that is using GDDR2.

GTA 4 is more dependent on processor than GFx card , in my PC(AMD 3500+,512MB RAM , 8400GS) it was sure unplayable (RAM is bottelneck here)

http://www.nvidia.com/object/product...9600gt_us.html

See in the specification , there are 2 columns , one for 96W and other of 59W , scroll down in the bottom and see they have diff requirments , they are of same card but will work faster if additional power is supplied .

so someday if you decide that you need extra power just add psu and you will get wooping 50MHz increasement
