Question Takes a long time to display the first screen

The monitor takes a long time to display the first screen n in my case its the ASUS logo for the motherboard.I'm totally confused what could cause such a problem.The monitor is the one from Compaq and 9600GT is the graphics card.

Please reply with some troubleshooting steps..
