Default Timely dropping FPSs in games!!!!

I'm not a hard core gamer, but love to play games... But a new problem which has arose infornt of me is that i m seeing timely drop in fame rates for few seconds and then again resuming the actual speed... I know the FPS has spikes while gameplay but what if i leave the game still at same pos i.e. no movements... even then the FPS drops to a marginal level and then resumes after 2-3 seconds and then again drops down after 10-15 seconds...What is it happening????I play games like Crysis, NFS MW, POP, Far Cry2 and most of the selective new games and have all the latest drivers for my card and using Vista SP1... I've read Crysis needs an update KB940105 for VM management... can some give me a DIRECT link for it's download plz...

It looks like something else is running in the background. Are you running any apps like downloaders or encoders? what's your OS?

Highly probably...but it must be extensive, since it causes the lag..which is taking up memory or CPU cycles...

Ooh..you have a laptop.
Well they are not meant for gaming. Sorry to say.

Plus your GPU is weak. You will face these issues.

CCC shows the temperature...?

Also you can try this plug in for RivaTuner.

Everest also has logging capability, you can try that...!

No CCC doesn't shows the temp... i guessed about temperature, that it could affect performance or such... But now i have seen that the core clock speed is underclocked by Dell how to set it to its default... thought of ATI tool, but it either crashes or hangs the system

Not sure which version of CCC you are using..BUT it does show temperatues.

You can use RivaTuner to change the clocks on your cards. Be careful, monitor the temepatures while you do this. You can render your card useless.
