if no image / video editing work is done, there is no need of IPS panel. So he can get a cheaper TN panel with bigger size. But if he wants to game with it, then I guess he might want to switch off the eye candies to play at its highest resolution.

Whats ur budget?

You can consider the foll.
Samsung P2350
AOC 2434PW
Dell S2409W
BenQ E2400HD, G2410HD, G2411HD, G2412HD

My Choice:
Dell 2209WA (e-IPS) Stunning monitor for all purposes including gaming with a mid-range card

his budget is 17 or 18k. if i like it, i may also get one but my gfx is ati 4760 512mb ddr3.

sp2309 provides higher resolution and hdmi port.
G2410 provides less power usage but no hdmi port.

he is still confused.

The dell site says its available - but i've heard no one buying it.
rahul, go for 2209wa. Less resolution - APT for 9600GT! IPS panel - better colros and viewing angles!

See this thread!
What's the difference between Watching 1080p videos on 1080p & 720p Monitor???

And this thread
http://www.techenclave.com/pc-periph...-141429-2.html

See JediKnight's & Lord Nemesis's reply for my statement!

They conclude by saying that - NO FULL HD in 720p monitor.
But instead of upscaling the DVD res videos and 720p videos to 1080p resolution, you can downscale the 1080p movies to 720p resolution and watch it.
DEFINITELY the DOWNSCALED will look far better than upscaled.

Now it depends entirely on you - if your friend watches and has only 1080p videos (or mroe 1080p when compared to 720p and dvd res) he can chose FUllHD monitors!

Among those two? . . .
Hmmm . . .. .
I don't think any of the above will be good.
Reason: Sp2309 - HIGH RESOLUTION not fit for games.
G2410 - LED - new technology - may have some drawbacks. SHould wait until the LED technolgoy is fully fledged into market. (of course, I've read the reviews on CNET stating that the monitor is excellent - but still . . . )

But if you still insist, G2410 will be a better choice!
