Default Which PSU under 3k

Hi all,

Recommend me the best PSU under 3k. It should be under 3k. It should have 6 pin PCI E connector. I m thinking to buy a graphic card therefore. BTW, I wud be buying 4770. So it requires 6 pin power connector, right?

Thnx.

yes H4770 requires power through a 6 pin power connector. my suggestion would be to go for atleast a 450W PSU

if strictly inside 3k,

Coolermaster eXtreme power 500W for 2.5k

if you can increase to 3.5k:

Coolermaster Real Power Pro 460W: 3.5k
Tagan Stone Rock TG500-U37 500 Watt: 3.7k
Corsair VX450W: 4k

Go for Corsair CX400W if your budget limitations are strict, else I'd recommend VX450W minimum. Don't go for Tagan TG500. My friend's brand new one died in a month and when he sent it to tagan, they shipped back after 10 days and still the PSU wasn't working. He's about to get it smtym soon after a total downtime of arnd 21 days. Also, build quality of VX450W is far superior to the TG-500-U37.

I don't think 400W is enough for HD4770 and a dual/quad core processor

^Then he may go for the VX450W. But is the CX400W not capable of touching around 500W like the VX450W, which goes up to 570W?

guys, VX450W can reach upto 570W but that doesn't mean that we can make it run at 100% efficiency or higher as that will increase the heat inside and also may cut short it's life. Better stick to the specs that Corsair gives.

VX 450W would be around 4.1K. It would be way out of your budget of 3K. But if you can get this one, then you can atleast have peace of mind. By the way, Corsair is voted best PSU manufacturer by newegg.com!

VIP is the best local brand, but not 1% of Corsair!

Corsair CX400W is a much better option @ ~3.2k
OR Coolermaster Real Power Pro 460W: 3.5k [much better]

I think VIP is not a local brand. It s imported by Kunhar peripherals. And do u really think its the best? Does it include PCI E 6 pin power connector?

^That may be, i really don't know.

All I know is that many "babus" with a computer shop have tried to recommend VIP 500W to me. I personally would not buy it even if i had a budget constraint. I would go for CM eXtreme Power series. Thing is that I don't trust these VIP/Zebby/cheapo brand.

VIP is everybody's recommendation and hence appears to be either the best of the cheapo ones or a very good marketing ploy.

I think zeb pro-500 is a decent product, given that it comes with a 3yr warranty but am sceptical about it's stability when your system touches 400W+ output and also about the service and RMA.

CM extremepower 600W too faces issues when the load goes beyond 450W
