I have a wierd problem with my pc , everytime after 5-10 mins it freezes like hell , only symptom is the HDD activity led is brightly on. and this happnes in random .

I have also noted that whenever i run any game or any browser , the same problem happnes.

even ms office and photoshop are freezing .

also have a note : i dont get any bsod / restart / fatal error . IT JUST FREEZES.

Tried running pc without CD Drive , TV tuner and useless crap . Still the problem is there.

Thumbs up Re: Really Frustated Computer hardware problem , I will become mad.

Have you tried loggin into Safe Mode?
If not, try logging into safe mode and disable as many services (which starts at win log on) as possible.
Restart ur pc and log into normal mode and try executing ur jobs.

B/W, can u plz post ur config?

You'll have a head crash (I meant of the hard disk :-P ) sooner or later. back up your data and get your hard disk replaced.

It could one of a number of things. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Run a surface scan of your hard disk.

2. Pull out the RAM, clean the contacts and reinsert it firmly.

3. Run memtest86.

4. Check all connections. If you're using a SATA HDD, make sure the power connector is OK. Many of those early 4-to-15 pin adapters are very unreliable.

Did you try the two suggestions I made regarding your RAM?

You could also try to scan your HDD in DOS mode. Or with your hard disk's manufacturer's disk checking utility, such as Seagate's Disc Wizard. Or Spinrite.

did u try booting in safe mode and do as rhitwik suggested ?
> try running some apps/ leaving the computer idle for 1-2 hrs at safe mode.
> open pc chassis and re assemble the parts after wiping ther contacts with a clean dry cloth.
> monitor temperature of components (cpu/ chipset/ram/hdd) in normal mode till it hangs.
> run a thorough anti virus scan of possible (avg and avast).
> check computer device manager and check for any alarm. if any device is not properly installed, uninstall it and reinstall it with proper drivers.
> make sure if any of ur newly installed devices causing this prob ? make sure all devices got their proper and latest drivers.

just check these
