i bought my computer in december 2007 and around a month ago my graphics card XFX geforce 8600 GT 512 mb DDR2 ( ordering code: PV-T48J-YAJG)[ u can use this code to know the specs) stopped working and had to be sent for RMA(replacement)...now thye problem is i am getting a GEforce 9400 512 MB ddr2 ( ordering code: PV-T94G-YH) in place of it....it has arrived at my dealer shop from where i bought it...... comparing on the xfx website i found out the the 9400 card is less stream processors(used for parallelism) 16 while my earlier card had 32....and less Memory Bus Interface 64 bit as compared to 128 bit on my geforce 8600 and consumes 50 watts more... what should i do...??? please help me with any suggesstions......... |

Yes, u r right, 8600 GT is more powerful. Else do 1 thing. Give him the difference which is there between 8600 GT and 9600GT, and get 9600 GT instead. There's a difference of 1 k approx between both these, so give him 1k more and buy 9600 GT, (there will also be performance increase if u buy 9600GT) ,hows my idea. Else stick with 8600GT.

thanks for your reply........
i think giving him 1 k more would make him give me a geforce 9600....when i purcahsed my card it was around 7100 rs but now it would be at a lower price...i wouldnt agree to taking a geforce 9400...... |

8600 Gt is lot faster than 9400 GT and slightly slower than 9500 GT. My advice get a 9600 GT for about 5200 rs. 9600 GT is twice as fast as 8600 GT/9500 GT.

Guy's iam going through a similar experience with my XFX 8600GT 256 MB.I bought it directly from Rashi. They said they will replace my 8600GT with 9600GT.Also, if iam willing to spend an extra 1250 they will get me 512MB version.Iam currently using a XFX 650i Ultra mobo with zebronics 500W PSU.Will a 9600GT work on it?.XFX has PCI-E slot and 9600GT, i believe is PCI-E 2.0

Yes. PCIe 2.0 Cards are backward compatible with the older standard.
