60 is definitely hot for that processor.

Wow 60+ on idle is HOT....you need to remove your heatsink, clean all the dust, clean the IHS of the procy and the bottom of the HSF with some isopropyl alcohol or atleast paint thinner, then reseat with fresh thermal paste...AS5 is the best but for cheaper solutions you can get decent cooler master thermal paste quite cheap...that will prolly solve your issue.

67 idle is not advisable, also reapplying the Thermal past is the last alternative I would recomend, there are lots you can try before, like make sure your stock fan is running at its max speed (check bios). the cabbie should be clean from dust and well ventilated with atleast 2 fans preferably 120mm. One for intake and one for exaust (u can have more if your cabbie allows). How the fans are placed is also imp. The exaust should be at a higher level. I am sure with all this you would easily get a drop of 4-5 degree C. If all this is not giving the result, go for reapplying the thermal past, or get a better CPU heatsink.

Hot? Nah
It's nothing compared to what temperature i got once!

Once i made Tea on the top of my processor!
It was a 113 degrees at that time.
I made ice tea and temperature is in Farhenheit
The maximum temperature i have got is about 80 degrees celsius.

Change the thermalpaste. If its 60 degrees on idle or on load without any overclocks, it is high. Use isopropyl alcohol with above 90% alcohol content to clean the old thermal paste and get a decent enough thermal paste.

1) add thermal paste to CPU
2) add additional fan at side or front.
3) if rear fan is not there, add one immediately

Yes boy for the first time its very tricky to remove a stock cooler of old Athlon 3500+ from MOBO its releasing leaver is very stiff.

BTW if wanna try to do this. First remove side pannel of PC's cabinet. Now use a wide tip screw driver to push the releasing leaver from C shaped formation side. keep that in mind the tip should be wide enough to stuck in that but should not touch the motherboard. Now push it gently downwards thenafter sideways heatsink will be unlocked.

Taking out processor is rather simple afair use its releasing leaver first sideways then upwards unmout the processor.

Rest of the prosses is well explained by other forum mambers.

60 is a bit hot. Temps below 55~53 are normal.

That WAY too hot. I think you REALLY need to check the cooling in the cabinet. It should be below 55 degrees. Last resort is reapplying the thermal paste.

I had the same problem a few days back.
it was because of the faulty fan on the cooler it spun at only 1400RPM insted of 3500RPM now.
Check your CPU fan speed under load and check BIOS setting of the fan speed also.

What about the vCore voltage. My heating issue got resovled cause of that. There was too much juice going into the cores...!

Though do run some stability tests...preferrably RealTEMP using Prime95(two worker threads)..Run it 3-4 times. If you get a crash..raise the vCore a notch.

Is everything on stock...? Check the voltages..before you pull of the heat sink. Though how long since your heat sink assembly was cleaned out and reapplied..??
