Don't run after names AMD holds the best VFM title and for your budget system suggested by Desibond is the best one.

You can improve on prosy up to Phanom 2 x4 940 BE by investing just 3K more.

Whats VFM???

Intel is still ahead of AMD when it comes to performance and cooling. ( they may cost a little more but it's worth it.)

OK then give me Intel's offerings against these AMD ones.

X2 7750 BE @3.5K

Athlon II X2 250 @ 5K

Phenom II x3 720 7.8K

Phenom II x4 940 BE 10.5K

beats X2 in every test except gaming. Also, most you get from X2 after o.c. is ~3.2 while e5200 can get anywhere near ~3.7.

But, yeah, no great answers for other processors as X3 720 beats the E7xxx series it is priced against, same for X4 940 and Q8xxx and there will come E6300 v2.0 priced and performing between X2 250 and X2 550.

Nice showing by X2 250.
Hope that Intel sees this and lowers E8xxx prices seeing at last, there is competition between dual cores.
Also shows that nobody in his right mind will buy a new Intel dual core at present prices unless upgrading.

And what about X2 550 should be priced equal to E6300 beats it with ease.

So "I_no" I think now you should understand why we consider AMD offerings as best VFM at that point of time.Of coarse Intel will come up with answers and that is what will favor end user "competition" .

X2 550 beats E8xxx and entry level quad cores without any effort. Phenom is really really rocking here!!!

LOL, this is ur opinion for gaming? DO YOU KNOW that the IGP of this 780G mobo listed below is many many times stronger than a X1550 which is a renamed card of the prev gen.

Athlon II X2 250 3GHz @ 5.5k
Palit 780G @ 3.8k
2*2=4GB Kingston DDR2 800MHz RAM @ 2.4k
BenQ G220 21.5" FULL HD @ 9.8k(don't compromise here!)
CM Elite 334 w/o PSU @ 1.8k
CM 500W ExP @ 2.8k
Any HD4770 OR Palit GTS 250 @ 7.7k(whichever u get, but if u get both, get HD4770)

I already said that Intels processors are costlier but they are more efficient and a lot more cooler.....I don't need to spend that extra money on buying costly cooling devices.

well efficient in what sense, amd chipsets from 780G are also much efficient, amd mobos and proccy are also priced lower compared to intel parts this can help u get tons of cooling option. IMO as the hardware gets going old it will show more sign of heating and alls so good cooling options will eventually be needed.

Efficient means -Run the same program/database using both AMD and intel processors, and intel processor will give u results faster.I have tested it myself.....

helloooo. which year are you in. AMD's new dual cores have 65W TDP and you don't need extra cooling at all. Oh and btw, a 5.5k AMD processor pawning an 8.5k Intel processor, now that's called spending money the right way.

@sona,

http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollecti...familyID=26547

Look at this. All core2duo processors have 65W TDP and none of them can match a 6.5k Phenom II X2 550, be it speed or benchmarks or video/audio editing/gaming or overclocking.

It's total bullshit..............
Not POSSIBLE at all..........
I have checked the benchmark scores(sisoft sandra,pc mark) and it confirmed that E8400 is ahead.....

It is marginally ahead but also 3k more expensive. You decide if that's 3k well spent or not.

If u comparing Quad core with duo's , duo keeps less power

Quad core needs more power even if it is 45nm , Compare E8400 with Phenom 2 X2 550 power consumption

E8400 is out !!

^^Actually, if you have a monitor with 1600x900 resolution or higher, X2 550 zooms past entire core2duo lineup and in lower resolution, the only processor that it can be compared to is E8600 as others fall behind.

And when you pay less than 1000 bucks more and get X3 720BE, it will be goodbye core2duo.

I don't know how core2duo can be faster and energy efficient here

U can check the benchmark charts at toms-hardware site.......
The top positions are occupied by intel only and E8400 is one of them........!!!!!!!!

the sites that u gave are comparing on the basis of gaming fps and i am not interested in that.
I agree that amd gives better performance in gaming but sucks when it comes to real world corporate jobs like handling large programs, compression, handling large databases, etc.

I think toms hardware is a better site to consult for overall performance.........

Since you are convinced that the E8400 is the greatest processor on earth then just buy it.
